American School of The Hague (ASH) is looking for a part-time (20%) School nurse for one day a week.

Location: Wassenaar, the Netherlands Start Date: September 1, 2026

You are a highly qualified and professional School Nurse with extensive nursing experience in an American, Canadian or international school or university. You have a Nursing degree in the United States and/or Europe (BIG registration in the Netherlands is strongly preferred).You are familiar with the nursing process of assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluating the health care needs of our students.

In addition you;

  • have a strong background and knowledge of special education and health education,

  • have strong interpersonal skills

  • have strong technology skills and see IT as an enabler for you

The Role: The School Nurse promotes the health and welfare of students in the school assigned and you serve as liaison to Counseling, Student Support Teams, Teachers and external Health Care providers. You work closely with the other two members of the Nursing Staff and you report directly to the HR Manager.

The Work: As School Nurse, you’ll be responsible for assessing illnesses and injuries of students and staff and providing first aid and emergency care for injuries and the yearly student’s vision, hearing and scoliosis screening and consultation. In this role you help plan and participate with projects and service trips, implement related aspects such as first aid kits, diets and medical needs of students. You gain full knowledge of the Child Protection Policy/Procedure of ASH. You are flexible and able to prioritize and deal with potentially stressful situations. Strong, open and warm communications will be your hallmark as you will work closely with the entire ASH community.

As School Nurse you:

  • Advice students, parents, and staff on health issues,

  • Administer medications authorized by parents and/or physicians and assess and monitor immunization status of ASH students,

  • Address potential health problems that are barriers to learning or symptoms of underlying medical conditions.
