As a Senior Safety Engineer – Permitting & Environmental, you will play a key role in delivering this integrated approach. You will work at the interface of engineering and regulation, helping our clients navigate complex permitting landscapes while enabling efficient and compliant project delivery.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead regulatory compliance, permitting and environmental activities across multidisciplinary engineering projects

  • Integrate permitting requirements into early design phases (concept, FEED, detailed design) to avoid late-stage risks

  • Manage and coordinate Dutch environmental permitting processes, including authority engagement

  • Provide expertise on:

    • Environmental regulations and compliance

    • Emissions to air, soil, and water

    • EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) deliverables

    • BAT/BREF and regulatory frameworks

  • Act as the key interface between engineering teams, clients, and regulatory authorities

  • Identify permitting risks early and implement practical, cost-effective solutions

  • Support project delivery by managing scope, schedule, and budgets for your discipline

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by applying innovative tools, methods, and digital solutions

Experience Qualifications:

What You Bring

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Strong experience in regulatory compliance, permitting, or Safety Engineering, preferably in the (petro-)chemical or industrial sector

  • Solid knowledge of:

    • Dutch permitting frameworks (e.g. Omgevingswet, Activiteitenbesluit)

    • PGS guidelines and environmental legislation

    • EIA processes and environmental assessments

  • Experience embedding regulatory requirements into engineering design processes

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary and international teams

Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English
