AWP Manager
The AWP (Advanced Work Packaging) Manager plays a crucial role in construction projects, particularly in large-scale industrial or infrastructure developments. Their main responsibility is to ensure the smooth execution of the project by implementing and managing the AWP process, which is designed to enhance productivity, improve safety, and reduce costs.
Role Context:
Summary:
The AWP Manager is responsible for the successful implementation and management of the Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) process throughout the project lifecycle. This includes overseeing the development and integration of Construction Work Packages (CWP) and Installation Work Packages (IWP) to ensure that the project is executed efficiently, safely, and within budget. The AWP Manager works closely with engineering, construction, and project management teams to align work packages with the overall project plan and to drive productivity improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- AWP Implementation:
- Develop and implement AWP processes and procedures across the project.
- Ensure that all project stakeholders understand and adhere to AWP principles.
- Facilitate the alignment of engineering, procurement, and construction schedules with work packages.
- Work Package Management:
- Oversee the creation, management, and distribution of CWPs and IWPsEnsure that work packages are complete, accurate, and available when needed.
- Coordinate with discipline leads to ensure that work packages are developed in line with project schedules and objectives.\
- Assist in the development of Engineering Work Package’s (EWP) and ensuring the procurement work process tracks material and related material appropriately to corresponding CWPs.
- Guide the Workface Planning Team in the development of Installation Work Packages (IWPs) using Worley's O3 AWP tool.
- Coordination and Collaboration:
- Act as the primary point of contact for AWP-related activities on the project
- Managing a team of AWP engineers
- Liaise with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure that work packages are integrated and synchronized.
- Collaborate with project controls to track progress and ensure that AWP metrics are met.
- Fostering alignment between Engineering, Supply Chain, Construction, and Commissioning teams.
- Working with Subcontractors to ensure that WFP is implemented effectively.
- Working with Supply Chain personnel to ensure that AWP requirements are effectively and clearly written into contracts with Vendors and Subcontractors.
- Productivity and Performance Monitoring:
- Monitor the performance of work packages and make adjustments as needed to improve efficiency.
- Analyse data to identify bottlenecks or issues in the AWP process and implement corrective actions.
- Report on the status of work packages and overall AWP progress to project management.
- Tracking and reporting on alignment between engineering activities and the Path of Construction.
- Training and Support:
- Provide training and support to project teams on AWP processes and tools.
- Promote best practices and continuous improvement in AWP implementation.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of work package progress, changes, and issues.
- Prepare regular reports for project management on AWP performance and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in construction project management, with a strong focus on AWP.
- In-depth knowledge of AWP principles, processes, and tools.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Aconex).
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience in construction management, with at least 3-5 years of experience in AWP.
- Proven track record of successful AWP implementation on large-scale projects
