Nutrition Business Group

Unilever’s Nutrition (Foods) Business Group is a €13 bn business, which represents almost one quarter of Unilever's turnover. With a presence in almost every country in the world, our Nutrition products get chosen more than 2.5 billion times a year, with growth driven largely by our three power brands Knorr, Hellmann’s and Unilever Foods Solutions (UFS). The rest of our portfolio is made up of strong regional and local brands including Horlicks, Bango, Calve, Marmite and Red Label.

JOB PURPOSE

This is a varied communications role for a seasoned communications professional, who has a passion for foods and the food industry. The ideal candidate will have a blend of creativity, agility, content development, project management, growth-mindset, and attention to detail. You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with proven experience across leadership communications, external communications and advocacy and employee engagement.

You will be a strong networker, able to build support with a variety of stakeholders at all levels across the business and be a confident trusted adviser and business partner to leadership in Nutrition. You will have a natural passion for, and understanding of, the impact of great communications in driving leadership through powerful storytelling to a variety of audiences and channels. You will understand the corporate landscape as well as the marketing, consumer, customer, and digital landscape with a passion for purposeful brands, innovation, social impact, sustainability and the belief in businesses and brands being a force for good and drive performance and growth.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

  • The person in this role will lead the day-to-day development, management and execution of Nutrition Business Group’s strategic communication calendar both externally and internally.

  • Partner with brand and innovation teams to deliver outstanding owned and earned storytelling for Nutrition and our brands. You will help maintain a drumbeat of stories amplifying the brands’ vision, campaigns and innovations, all the while demonstrating that Unilever is a high performing global leader in sustainable business with external audiences and internally with employees.

  • Lead on reputation / issues management of a number of long-standing Nutrition issues and issue flares.

  • Prepare and manage external (media and advocacy) meetings at Unilever’s Global Foods Innovation Centre (Hive) in Wageningen.

  • Support in change management communications such as written communications (Viva Engage and Amplify), videos and townhalls.

  • Coaching and supporting senior leaders in key external engagements.

  • As a senior manager you will be expected to demonstrate leadership, a passion for high performance and take personal responsibility and accountability for execution and results.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

Experiences & Qualifications

  • 8+ years well-rounded communications experience, preferably in FMCG or the food industry.

  • Fluent in English with excellent writing, editorial and storytelling skills with strong attention to detail. Preferably also fluent in Dutch.

  • Track record of delivering impactful communications – internally to deliver transformation, change and high levels of engagement, and externally to deliver positive earned media to grow reputation and trust.

  • Experience of leading advocacy programs and execution in markets.

  • Strong project management and agency management skills.

  • Confidence and ability to create and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong judgement and proven experience managing issues / crisis communications.

  • Ability to successfully manage global/local complexity within a global matrix organization.

  • Confidence, drive, and initiative: self-starter who can work independently and confidently lead projects.

  • Ability to adapt and learn quickly and remain steady under pressure when on deadline.

  • A purpose-led team player who has a growth mindset.

  • Experience utilizing digital, social, and mobile channels.
