About the Role
Tronox is seeking a dedicated Safety Officer to be part of our team at our Muchea site. This position operates on an attractive 9-day fortnight. Reporting to the Northern Operations Safety & Health Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring the health, safety, emergency response, and the well-being of all personnel on site. This role involves direct, hands-on engagement with our team to uphold a safe, compliant work environment aligned with both government regulations and Tronox’s commitment to safety excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and uphold compliance with all Safety, Health, and Process Safety requirements as defined by Tronox policies and procedures.
- Support the Emergency Response Team with organising training and equipment inspections and maintenance.
- Provide immediate health care to personnel and assist in injury management.
- Lead the compliance of the medical centre and medications.
- Participate in audits and investigations and contribute to technical safety reports.
- Monitor and conduct Fit for Work (FFW) testing in line with site schedules.
- Proactively participate in safety activities, including inspections, behavioural observations, and toolbox meetings. Maintain and update safety notice boards across the site.
- Organise and lead regular site evacuation drills, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Assist in health and hygiene monitoring, focusing on potable water monitoring.
- Maintain site registers required for compliance, including emergency response plans and hazardous substances registers.
- Assist in contractor safety management on site.
About You:
Essential Criteria
- WHS Knowledge: Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) best practices.
- First Aid Experience: Practical experience with First Aid.
- Qualifications: Certificate IV in Pre-Hospital Care (Ambulance);
- Incident Investigation: Hands on experience in incident investigation and reporting
- Driver’s License: Valid Class ‘C’ driver’s license required
Desirable
- Qualifications: Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS), Certificate III Mines Rescue.
- Safety Systems: Familiarity with safety systems and processes.
- Work Experience: Strong preference for experience in mining industry - safety or operations, with an emergency response background.
- Incident Investigation: Hands on experience in incident investigation and reporting.
