The Hague Humanity Hub is hiring a Communications Officer with a passion for content creation, storytelling, and writing.
In this role, you will be responsible for capturing and communicating the work of the Humanity Hub and the peace and justice ecosystem of The Hague. You will attend events, engage with community members, conduct interviews, and identify strong narrative angles that translate collaborations, programmes, and collective action into clear, engaging content for diverse audiences.
You will identify relevant developments, spot emerging themes, and shape them into narratives that explain why collaboration, connection, and collective action matter.
Working closely with the Communications and Marketing Manager and the programming team, you will ensure consistent messaging, tone of voice, and brand identity across all communication platforms of The Hague Humanity Hub.
This role has a strong focus on writing, interviewing, and narrative development, complemented by broader communications responsibilities.
Key responsibilities
- Create high-quality written content like articles, interviews, blog posts, event reports, profiles, and long-form storytelling pieces that highlight the peace and justice ecosystem, its actors, and the work of The Hague Humanity Hub.
- Co-develop communication campaigns for Humanity Hub programmes, projects, and campus services, creating storylines that clearly communicate the Hub’s ecosystem-level impact, including collaboration, connection, and knowledge exchange.
- Attend events, workshops, and community activities to identify stories, capture insights, and translate live moments into engaging content.
- Conduct interviews with ecosystem members, partners, and stakeholders, identifying compelling angles and narratives.
- Edit, write, and publish content for websites, newsletters, and social media channels. Select and edit photos and create visuals and social media assets using Canva or Adobe Suite.
- In collaboration with the team, manage social media channels and newsletters in collaboration with the Communications Team.
- In collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Manager, help monitor KPIs and evaluate the performance of online content and campaigns.
What you bring
- Strong writing and editorial skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and well-structured content, identifying stories, angles, and narratives within complex organisational or ecosystem contexts.
- Proven experience in content creation and storytelling, ideally in a mission-driven or community-focused context.
- Excellent command of English, with professional working proficiency in Dutch as a strong plus.
- Experience with newsletter tools and social media management platforms like Hootsuite.
- You are up to date with relevant communication and storytelling trends and best practices.
- Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Suite.
- 1 to 3 years of professional experience in communications, content creation, or related roles.
- University degree in communications, marketing, international relations, politics, journalism, or a related field.
- Affinity with peace, justice, and civil society work in The Hague.
- Proactive, curious, and comfortable engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Applicants must have the right to work in the Netherlands.
What we offer
- A one-year contract, four days per week (0.8 FTE or 32 hours), with the intention to extend.
- A full-time gross monthly salary of €2650 – 3350, depending on experience.
