For our customer, the European Space Agency (ESA), we are seeking an experienced Oracle / APEX Developer to work at ESA’s ESTEC site in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
Job description
You will be a key member of Terma’s Software Development and Support Service team integrated into the customer responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting bespoke business process applications for ESTEC’s Technical and Quality Management Directorate (D/TEC).
Responsibilities
As Oracle / APEX Developer reporting to the Service Manager and senior team members you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting bespoke business process applications based on Oracle technologies. In your daily work you will interface with ESA administrators and managers to define requirements, test and then deploy solutions, and provide user support in the operations phase.
The key tasks to be performed are:
- Maintain and enhance existing Oracle applications.
- Collaborate with the team to address business needs and deliver high-quality solutions
- Engage in the development of new projects using .NET Core, PostgreSQL, and Python
- Demonstrate flexibility in pivoting to different projects and technologies as required
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes.
This is a full-time position located at ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The foreseen start of work is September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.

How to succeed in this position?
The successful candidate shall have:
- A university degree (minimum Bachelor) in IT, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar. Relevant professional IT certifications are desirable.
- At least 4 years relevant professional working experience, ideally in an international working environment.
- Experience with Oracle technologies including Oracle APEX
- You will demonstrate a high level of proficiency in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and database performance optimization, with extensive experience supporting and developing Oracle-based solutions in enterprise environments.
- You will be an experienced and adaptable developer with a strong background in Oracle database technologies.
- Capability to handle ad-hoc and cross-functional projects.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with .NET Core, PostgreSQL, and Python is advantageous.
- Prior knowledge and experience with ESA and/or space industry would be an asset.
Soft skills:
- Service orientation and ability to liaise with (administrative/management) end-users, other IT teams, security officers etc.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
