Telecommunication System Engineer

Telespazio Belgium has an on‑site service at ESTEC in the Netherlands, and we are looking for a highly skilled Telecommunication System Engineer to work there.
Candidates must be eligible for a security personal clearance from an EU Member State national security administration
What is expected from you:
- Support ESA in the activities of satellite telecommunication and sub-systems performance analysis, and in the operation and maintenance of the RF equipment (e.g. antennas, simulators, …).
- Assists with the integration, configuration and running of test equipment and/or test set-ups employed in evaluating the performance of RF subsystems or instruments for space applications.
- Organisation and maintenance of laboratory library, which includes documentation operating manuals, test reports and general documentation.
- Operation, maintenance and calibration of the laboratory equipment and test facilities.
- Handle loan and purchase operations for the divisional equipment.
- Maintain up to date divisional equipment inventory list, which involves using of dedicated software for tractability and control of inventory including lent out equipment.
- Support internal hands-on technical analysis on subjects related to future SATCOM systems
- Support the preparation of the section R&D technology roadmaps in the area of satellite telecom network protocols, architectures and systems
- Support ESA-wide projects in the area of telecommunication systems and technologies
What you offer :
- Master's degree / PhD (preferable) in Telecommunication or Electrical engineering
- Good background on satellite communication technologies ground technologies .
- Experience in RF measurements and calibration techniques.
- Very good skills in writing manuals, test reports, and general documentation.
- Be able to run RF equipment, prepare and execute demos.
- Good knowledge of the 5G protocols
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the field of telecommunications covering the following:
- System level analysis of satellite telecommunication networks
- End-to-end Physical/MAC layer analysis and simulations
- Good knowledge of SATCOM related standards
- Knowledge of MATLAB and other programming languages such as Julia, Python, C++.

Where:
You will be working within ESTEC, the European Space Agency’s offices in the Netherlands as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium. We don’t expect the employees to be on-site full time however you will still have to relocate to the Netherlands for this position.
