We are currently seeking a Intern Chemical Process Modelling Engineer, reporting directly to Senior Process Modelling Expert to join our Process Modelling team based in Zoetermeer, Netherlands.

About the mission we offer you:
In this role, you will contribute to the development of an industrial engineering design tool for a methanation reactor as part of the EU-funded METHAREN project. This project aims to demonstrate a cost-effective, sustainable, and circular biomethane production system that manages intermittent renewable energy sources.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting a literature study on recent research related to methanation reaction kinetics, modeling techniques, and experimental data collection for model validation. Developing a detailed model of the methanation process, including chemistry and heat transfer aspects.
Validating the model using available experimental data. Applying the model to determine optimal operational conditions and identify potential unsafe scenarios. Providing conclusions, recommendations for further research, and preparing reports.
Starting Date: Spring 2026

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field
- Good understanding of chemical reaction kinetics, heat transfer, and process modeling
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles, mathematics, and computer programming (preferably Python)
- Ability to work in a structured manner with limited guidance
- Good communication skills
