The quantum world is small but growing. We are a steadily-growing scale-up with an ever-expanding worldwide customer base. We provide our photon detection systems to a wide range of customers and research institutes. In this role, you will be developing add-on devices to expand the capabilities of our existing detectors, allowing for new applications – e.g. as we scale up further in the industry, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our products to reach more users by offering a wider range of applications. Therefore, we are looking for an Junior Application Engineer to join the Development Team to drive the company forward.

What you will be doing
As a Junior Application Engineer, you will play significant role in developing a new feature to expand our products' application. This will enable Single Quantum to grow by expanding the applications of our detectors.The role requires you to use your problem-solving skills to design, implement and realize a new product, i.e. be an important part in the complete product development cycle. This includes the hardware optomechanical part and the software, which plays a crucial role in the integration of the newly develop add-on product into the final detector system.

Ideally, you will work part time and will be based at our HQ in Delft, contributing to our dynamic and friendly work environment!

Your profile and requirements
  • You are currently a Master student in a Physics, Engineering, or other relevant technical field with specialization and interest in Optics;
  • You have a hands-on approach to solve problems;
  • You have experience in programming in Python;
  • You have an analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and decision making skills;
  • You have a strong communication skills;
  • You are a strong implementer, who excels in turning ideas into actionable plans and ensuring their successful execution;
  • You are result-driven.

The following working experiences are a plus;
  • Knowledge and skills in Python for doing instrumentation.
  • Experience working with free-space optics is a plus;
  • Affinity in Physics or Photonics.
