How to contribute to our vision

This role is within the Gas Services' Generator Operational Support team, created to ensure business continuity and manage an increasing workload due to fleet growth and service demands. The position is critical for providing direct engineering support to the operating fleet of large utility generators, focusing on maintaining reliability and resolving technical issues. To address these business needs, the role is structured around three core areas: Fleet Operational Support & Troubleshooting, Engineering Design & Lifecycle Management, and Project Coordination. These categories encompass the reactive troubleshooting of field issues, the proactive design of repairs and improvements, and the management of engineering projects and stakeholder communications. Given the focus on technical resolution and design, the ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical engineering with significant experience in the power generation industry, specifically with turbogenerators. Key competencies include advanced problem-solving, engineering design, and the ability to manage complex projects and communicate technical solutions effectively.

What You Need To Make a Difference

  • 50% Fleet Operational Support & Troubleshooting
    • Provide engineering support for forced outage recovery and conduct root cause investigations for the operating fleet of generators.
    • Disposition field findings and formulate technical repair recommendations for generator components to ensure operational reliability.
    • Perform advanced operational troubleshooting for a diverse fleet of large utility generators and synchronous condensers.
    • Respond to urgent customer requests, including providing support during nights and weekends as required.
  • 30% Engineering Design & Lifecycle Management
    • Develop and release comprehensive product definition documents, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and process requirements for repairs.
    • Design and engineer novel repair methods and component improvements for existing generator systems to enhance performance and longevity.
    • Conduct engineering studies and evaluations of components to support the development of fleet maintenance strategies and recommendations.
  • 20% Project Coordination & Stakeholder Communication
    • Manage multiple engineering projects and deadlines independently, ensuring the timely delivery of technical solutions.
    • Communicate technical findings, project status, and recommendations effectively to customers, field service personnel, and internal management.
    • Coach and review the work of lower-level professionals, providing mentorship and training within areas of expertise.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the power generation industry, with a preference for experience in the design, analysis, or maintenance of turbogenerators and synchronous condensers.
