What’s the role

As a Sales Manager specializing in Performance Products specifically PO/EO & Derivatives, you will manage and grow a portfolio of key customers across Europe, delivering strong results through effective account management and disciplined deal execution. Based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, you will play a key role in driving profitable growth by identifying and converting high-value opportunities, improving margins, and enhancing overall portfolio quality. With clear ownership of progressing opportunities to close, you will operate within defined pricing and product guidelines while balancing market dynamics, customer needs, and long-term value. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on business performance, gain exposure to international customers, and further develop both commercial and technical capabilities within a critical and evolving value chain.

Operating within Shell’s Downstream Chemicals business and focused on the Ethylene Oxide (EO), Propylene Oxide (PO), and derivatives market, you will serve customers across home care, personal care, and industrial segments in a competitive and evolving landscape. Success requires a focus on product performance, reliability, and commercial rigor, alongside navigating increasing demand for sustainable solutions. You will collaborate closely with a cross-functional European sales team, contributing to a business with a strong market position, manufacturing footprint, and established customer base.

What you’ll be doing

  • Deal Making & Account Growth:

    • Lead negotiations and close sales agreements across the EO/PO derivatives portfolio

    • Structure deals balancing volume, margin, and long-term value

    • Drive targeted growth within accounts, focusing on the most valuable opportunities

    • Identify where to expand, defend, or reduce business based on value

  • Pipeline & Market Focus:

    • Build and maintain a focused, high-quality pipeline, prioritizing opportunities with the strongest business impact and ensuring disciplined follow-up to conversion

    • Translate market and customer insights into concrete sales actions

  • Cross-functional Delivery:

    • Work closely with product management and supply teams to ensure alignment with product guidelines, reliable execution and delivery

What you bring

  • Substantial experience in B2B sales or account management, with a consistent track record of delivering results and closing deals

  • Experience in the chemicals industry or a related sector is highly advantageous

  • Strong commercial drive, with a clear focus on winning business and delivering measurable outcomes

  • Demonstrated ownership, with the ability to follow through on commitments and deliver on priorities

  • Strong prioritization skills, focusing on high-value opportunities to maximize impact

  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Effective negotiation skills, with the ability to progress opportunities through to closure

  • Solid understanding of value creation levers such as pricing, margin, and commercial trade-offs

  • Ability to translate customer needs into commercial and technical solutions

  • Comfortable working cross-culturally and across diverse stakeholders in an international environment
