Location: Serco Environmental Services, Lambeth, London, SE24 0PZ
Salary: £44,000 - £47,000 plus excellent benefits
Schedule: 06:00am to 14:30pm Monday to Friday (+ 9 Saturday, 5 Sunday and 3 bank holidays)

As a Supervisor in our Environmental Services team, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of frontline operations across refuse and recycling, street cleansing or housing services. You’ll allocate work, oversee performance, and make sure tasks are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
This role combines hands-on operational leadership with people management. You’ll support, coach and engage your team, manage performance and absence, and ensure health and safety, quality and productivity targets are met. Working closely with Operations Managers and fellow supervisors, you’ll help keep essential services running smoothly and consistently for the community.
What you’ll do as a Supervisor
You’ll be entrusted to:
- Supervise day-to-day operational service delivery, ensuring contractual and service standards are consistently met
- Lead, motivate and develop a frontline team, supporting colleagues across the full employee lifecycle
- Maintain strong health and safety standards across people, vehicles, operations and the environment
- Monitor performance, productivity and quality, using management information to drive continuous improvement
- Manage absence, performance and employee relations matters in line with policies and procedures
- Work collaboratively with managers, supervisors and stakeholders to improve service outcomes

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:
- Experience supervising or managing a team within an operational or frontline environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead by example
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, organisation and prioritisation
- Confidence using IT systems such as Word and Excel
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake further training

As well as checking eligibility to work in the UK, you will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to help us identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
