As a Senior Forensic Psychologist in our Psychological Services team, you’ll deliver evidence‑based assessments, formulations, and interventions that directly support safer outcomes and contribute to meaningful rehabilitation.

You’ll help create positive change by shaping and developing psychological services across the prison, supporting a rehabilitative culture, and working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure every individual receives the care and direction they need for a more positive future.

What you’ll do as a Senior Forensic Psychologist

You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Deliver high‑quality psychological assessments, formulations, and evidence‑based interventions.
  • Provide professional consultancy and advice within multidisciplinary meetings, including MAPPA and Offender Personality Disorder pathway discussions.
  • Offer supervision, training, and mentoring to Forensic Psychologists, Forensic Psychologists in Training (FPiTs), and other colleagues involved in interventions.
  • Complete forensic risk assessments and act as a professional witness in parole boards and multi‑agency settings.
  • Contribute to research, data gathering, and continuous service development across Psychological Services.

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have…

  • Chartered and Registered status with the Health Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Full membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS) Forensic Psychology Division.
  • Experience working with individuals with complex needs in forensic or custodial settings.
  • A positive, supportive approach that promotes effective change across teams.
  • The drive to maintain high professional standards, including CPD and accreditation requirements.

Vetting and checks:
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
