Project Manager IT

About Royal IHC

Royal IHC is a global player in the maritime industry, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for dredging, offshore, mining, and defence markets. Our IT department supports this by keeping critical systems reliable, improving our application landscape, and helping the business move away from legacy setups towards more modern, secure, and integrated solutions.

About the role

As Project Manager IT, you will help Royal IHC move forward by turning business needs into well-managed IT projects. You will work on practical, visible improvements across our application landscape, integrations, and related systems.

You will manage a portfolio of medium-sized IT projects, typically with a duration of several months. These projects directly relate to the way our business operates. Examples include the introduction of new Identity and Access Management (IAM) tooling, lifecycle management projects such as application upgrades and decommissioning, and the implementation of enterprise applications at business entities still operating on legacy setups.

This is a role for someone who enjoys creating structure, bringing people together, and seeing tangible improvements land in the business. You bring clarity and discipline to projects, while staying pragmatic and flexible when priorities shift.

You will join a small team of Project Managers within the IT organization and work closely with colleagues across IT, business functions, and external partners.

Your responsibilities

  • Turn business needs and improvement ideas into clear, well-structured IT projects
  • Define project scope, activities, planning, budget, deliverables, and required resources together with stakeholders
  • Bring together project teams across IT, business functions, and external vendors to keep delivery moving
  • Monitor progress, manage risks and resources, and take corrective actions when needed
  • Help teams navigate changes in scope, priorities, and requirements without losing sight of the end result
  • Provide clear steering information on progress, risks, budget, quality, and outcomes
  • Create clarity through proper project governance, documentation, and handover
  • Support the improvement of our portfolio management process, including the preparation of business cases for new initiatives

Your profile

  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT, Business, or a related field, combined with relevant project management experience appropriate to the level of the role
  • You have experience with application, integration, or system improvement projects
  • You are comfortable managing several projects at the same time and know how to keep priorities clear
  • You communicate clearly and are able to build constructive relationships with stakeholders and project partners
  • You know how to bring people into motion and help teams deliver results
  • You stay effective in an environment where priorities may change
  • You are hands-on, pragmatic, and focused on delivering practical outcomes
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English, as part of our workforce is not fluent in English
  • You have nationality from a NATO member country, which is required for this role

Methodology & skills

  • You have experience working with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery approaches
  • You are familiar with project management practices such as planning, risk management, reporting, and change control
  • You are organized, structured, and able to solve problems pragmatically
  • Experience with tools such as Jira or MS Project is a plus

What we offer

  • A visible role in a changing IT environment where your projects directly support business continuity and improvement
  • A broad project portfolio across applications, integrations, identity management, lifecycle management, and enterprise systems
  • Close collaboration with IT specialists, business colleagues, and external partners across Royal IHC
  • Room to further develop your project management skills and grow into larger or more complex IT initiatives
