Royal IHC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Compliance Officer to join our international Compliance Team. This is dynamic role, that specifically requires expertise on due diligence in the context of compliance with anti-bribery and corruption legislation. In this role you will also work closely with other disciplines including finance and sales.

Our compliance programme is principle-driven and closely aligned with the company’s core values of Partnership, Commitment and Innovation. You will play a key role in promoting a strong culture of business integrity and compliance across the organisation, ensuring that our operations meet regulatory requirements and ethical standards worldwide. You will report directly to the Head of Group Legal & Company Secretary.

Your key responsibility will be to lead the due diligence on our intermediaries in sales and conclude new agreements according to our new template agency / distributor agreements. You will promote a culture of business integrity and compliance across Royal IHC, driving continuous improvement of our global compliance programme, creating the maritime future honestly and with integrity.

Your Responsibilities

  • Due Diligence on Intermediaries: Lead the comprehensive due diligence process for all intermediaries in sales, to ensure compliance with our anti-bribery and corruption policies. This includes evaluating their background, business practices, and adherence to legal and ethical standards.
  • Agreement Management: Conclude new agreements with all intermediaries in accordance with the company's new template agreement. Ensure that these agreements are aligned with our anti-bribery and corruption standards, including certification on compliance. This involves explaining the importance of the certification, addressing any concerns, and confirming their commitment to uphold our compliance standards.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Complete the drafting of the new Intermediary Policy. Implement the policy across the organisation, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are informed and compliant.
  • Training and Awareness Programme: Develop and set up a comprehensive training and awareness programme related to the due diligence process. This includes creating training materials, conducting workshops, and ensuring that all employees and intermediaries understand and adhere to the due diligence requirements.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Economics, Compliance, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of relevant legal and compliance experience in an international business environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of anti-bribery and corruption legislation and related due diligence requirements.
  • Strong understanding of risk management and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience in developing and delivering compliance training and communication programme.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to build trust and influence at all levels.
  • Excellent language skills in Dutch and English, both in writing and verbally.
  • Proactive, pragmatic, independent and principle-based approach.
  • Unquestioned integrity and ethics in business and personal conduct.
  • The experience and confidence to push for change and, when appropriate, to challenge the status quo, in a way that will be heard and respected.

Selection process:

After your application, a CV screening will take place first. If your profile aligns sufficiently, a brief telephone intake with the Corporate Recruiter will follow. You will then proceed with a selection process consisting of two interview rounds. After a positive second interview, we will schedule a discussion about the terms of employment. We aim to complete the entire selection process within five weeks. Please note that the selection process will include compliance screening.
