R&D

You will boost the engineering capacity within the radar team and focus on safety and certification. You will pick up ongoing certifications like the US certificates for MAX and military standards for IRIS and kick-start the ones to come.

Our products evolve, and this has an impact on compliance. Your role is to assess this, make a plan, and execute the tests necessary to ensure future compliance. To facilitate smooth product development, a test at an accredited company should be a walk in the park because we have already performed proper pre-compliance testing, which you will manage and mature. You have a solid background in EMC/EMI compliance testing and can translate the norms into tests and interpret the test result into advice to improve our products. Furthermore, you know your way around in the international maze of radio and (electrical) safety standards, including the US & Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Requirements Management & Tailoring: Identify compliance requirements during the project conceptual phase. This includes both regulatory laws and, crucially, developing test profiles based on product tailoring and mission profiles for military standards (e.g., environmental or shock/vibe profiles).

  • External Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact and negotiator with external partners, including accredited test laboratories, regulatory bodies (FCC, notified bodies), and specialized external consultants.

  • Market Access Strategy: Identify appropriate certification paths with foreign regulatory agencies and military customers to gain global market access (GMA), then plan and oversee the execution of (re)certification tests.

  • Lifecycle Management: Keep all current product certificates up-to-date with evolving laws, regulations, and product updates.

  • Technical Documentation: Compose and update test plans for approval processes (e.g., STANAG, CE, FCC, NRTL) and generate safety assessments.

  • Capability Growth: Mature internal pre-compliance test capabilities to reduce risk before formal external testing.

Requirements

The Core Essentials

  • University background: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a similar technical field.

  • Partnership Experience: Proven experience (5+ years) in managing relationships and projects with external parties, such as accredited test houses, NRTLs, regulators, or specialized engineering consultants.

  • Broad Testing Background: Solid technical background in at least one major testing discipline: Environmental, Safety, Radio, or EMC.

  • Communication: Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex norms into actionable engineering advice.

  • Location: You live in The Netherlands, within commuting distance of The Hague.

Your Domain Expertise

We are looking for deep expertise in at least one of the following 3 areas:

  • Military Standards Expert: Deep knowledge of MIL-STD (e.g., 810/461) or STANAG AECTP requirements. Experience in tailoring requirements and developing test plans based on Life Cycle Environmental Profiles (LCEP).

  • North American & Safety Expert: Extensive experience with NRTL or UL approval processes. Thorough understanding of FCC regulations and North American safety standards.

  • Radio Testing Expert: Specialist knowledge in RED (Radio Equipment Directive) testing and certification. Deep technical understanding of radio parameters, spectrum usage, and associated international standard.

Also depending on your experience and seniority, this role offers the opportunity to take on Team Lead responsibilities, guiding the compliance strategy and mentoring the wider engineering team.

N.B. All applicants, we realize that this is quite the list and people come with various levels of experience. Don't be afraid to apply even if you feel you don't meet every desired skill. Our mission is a journey and there's plenty to learn on the way!
