Join Starion’s CAATS (Computer-Assisted Auditing Techniques) Engineering Support Team at ESA, ESTEC.
You shall install, operate and maintain the CAATS application elements, as well as design and implement the necessary improvements.
About the client and location
The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. As ESA’s largest test centre, it is responsible for the majority of space technology and spacecraft development through varying phases of production.
Tasks and activities
The scope of work will include:
- Supporting the review of the evidence provided by the industry and assisting in internal and external Cyber Internal training sessions, audit sessions and awareness campaigns.
- Assisting in the organisation of industry review meetings as part of the audit campaign plan.
- Reviewing industry-submitted data within CAATS and verifying its consistency against the supporting evidence package.
- Consolidating data submitted by industry in the applicable CAATS to generate aggregated reports.
- Providing on-site support during physical audits across Europe, including visits to critical infrastructures, in line with ESA Cyber Internal Audit Plans (up to 5 missions per year per STE, upon request).
- Designing and managing a database serving as the main repository for auditor knowledge and data inputs.
- Preparing and delivering a monthly support report to the ESA CIA Team, covering past and planned activities, performed tasks, delivered products (including tools and algorithms with CMDB references), audit deliverables and reviews, aggregated industry reports, and security incidents.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- Engineering or Masters degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the domain.
- Expertise with Generalised Audit software (GAS) or Business Intelligence tools.
- Knowledge of and background in Navigation Systems or Space Systems.
- Relevant technical experience (preferably in Audit and software engineering).
- Familiarity with ISACA frameworks, ISO27K, NIST, or COBIT standards, essential for supporting industry review activities.
- Basic Knowledge of the EU Cybersecurity Regulations such as the NIS2 Directive, the Digital service Act, the Data Act or the GDPR.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse large audit datasets and produce clear visualisations (charts, dashboards, reports) to communicate insights.
- Must be eligible to obtain a Personal Security Clearance (PSC) from an EU country.
- Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
- Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
