Senior Frontend Developer

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Frontend Developer to support our cyber-security software activities in the Netherlands.

You will join a team working on challenging and high-impact European cyber-security projects, with technologies and platforms related to cyber ranges, cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, secure data management, and distributed software systems.

As a Senior Frontend Developer, you will contribute to the design and implementation of modern web applications and user interfaces used to support secure data management, system integration, resource sharing, orchestration, and cloud-native platforms. The work will typically involve React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, component-based implementation, API integration, frontend architecture, and collaboration with backend services and internal and external platforms.

Tasks and activities

The scope of activities will include:

• Designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining modern frontend applications using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Developing robust, maintainable, and reusable UI components for platform functionality, data management, system integration, and operational workflows.
• Contributing to frontend architecture, component structure, state management, routing, application composition, and technical design.
• Integrating frontend applications with backend APIs and service interfaces, including handling authentication, authorisation, data validation, error states, loading states, and asynchronous interactions.
• Contributing to secure frontend development practices, including safe handling of user input, session management, access-controlled UI behaviour, secure API interaction, and awareness of common web vulnerabilities.
• Ensuring frontend implementations are responsive, accessible, performant, and compatible with modern browsers.
• Participating in code reviews, technical discussions, sprint planning, estimation, and troubleshooting.
• Producing clear technical documentation for frontend architecture, component usage, API assumptions, implementation decisions, and user-facing behaviour where required.
• Collaborating with backend, infrastructure, platform, and DevOps engineers to ensure frontend applications are well integrated, deployable, and maintainable in different environments.
• Taking ownership of frontend implementation topics and contribute to the continuous improvement of the software platform.

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

• Excellent frontend development experience with modern web applications.
• Solid experience with React and component-based frontend implementation.
• Strong experience with TypeScript and JavaScript.
• Good understanding of HTML, CSS, the DOM, browser behaviour, and modern web standards.
• Expertise in frontend architecture, application structure, state management, routing, and maintainable code organisation.
• Experience integrating frontend applications with backend APIs and service interfaces.
• Background implementing data-driven user interfaces, including forms, tables, dashboards, status views, and configuration views.
• Exposure to frontend build tooling and package management, such as Vite, Webpack, npm, pnpm, or similar.
• Understanding of secure frontend development, including authentication flows, authorisation-aware UI behaviour, input validation, session handling, and safe API interaction.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with backend developers, architects, UX/UI designers, and engineering teams while producing clear and structured technical documentation.
• Senior-level ownership of frontend implementation, API integration, and user-interface quality topics.
• Eligibility for EU security clearance.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following Skills and experience are highly desirable:

• Hands-on experience in full-stack development, particularly Java, Spring Boot, and backend API implementation.
• Proficiency with UI component libraries and design systems such as Material UI, Ant Design, Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap, or similar.
• Strong understanding of authentication and identity technologies, including OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, Keycloak, and identity federation.
• Expertise in RBAC/ABAC models, multi-tenant access control, and secure data sharing from a frontend perspective.
• Practical knowledge of cloud-native platforms, containerised applications, and frontend deployment in cloud or private-cloud environments.
• Familiarity with cyber ranges, simulation platforms, training environments, or testbeds.
• Solid understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including vulnerabilities, attack scenarios, defensive monitoring, incidents, and threat emulation.
• Prior exposure to defence, governmental, space, or other regulated environments.
