We are looking for a IRIS² Ground Qualification & IVVQ Engineer to work at ESTEC’s premises in Noordwijk, Netherlands.
About the client
ESA’s Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communications (CSC) drives innovation in satellite telecommunications by coordinating research, supporting the development of advanced technologies, and fostering strong industrial partnerships across Europe and Canada. It plays a key role in enabling the creation of cutting-edge satellite-based products and services, while also investing in public-private partnerships to develop and demonstrate next-generation communication systems.
CSC is expanding its involvement in externally funded initiatives, notably contributing to the Union Secure Connectivity Programme (IRIS²), aimed at enhancing resilience, interconnectivity, and security through satellite infrastructure
Tasks and activities
The scope of Technical Support will include system validation engineering activities in the following areas:
- Provide ground system engineering support to the process definition, integration, verification, validation and qualification strategy of the ground segment.
- Support integration activities, test campaigns.
- Ensure acceptance milestones are planned, executed, and documented in compliance with project requirements.
- Plan, orchestrate and support the integration of complex multi‑component systems (hardware, software, and operational elements).
- Define integration strategies, identifying interfaces, managing dependencies, and resolving integration risks early.
- Define Verification & Validation plans, acceptance criteria, traceability to requirements and test strategies across system, subsystem, and component levels.
- Manage test execution, assess compliance, and structure evidence for regulatory or customer acceptance.
- Interpret standards/regulations, design qualification approaches and deliver documentation demonstrating system conformity.
- Engage with auditors, certification bodies, and external stakeholders.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
- At least 5 years of experience in relevant field.
- Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
- Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
