We are seeking a specialist to support the Integrated Ground Control Segment Service, working within the Galileo Ground Segment Management Office, and contributing to the EGNOS and Galileo Programme Department under the Directorate of Navigation.
About the client and location
The ESA Programme, known as “Galileo”, supports the development and validation of the EU’s Galileo infrastructure and its services. The Service Provision is managed by EUSPA, while the engineering and the implementation of the Galileo Monitoring Service (GMS), Galileo Control Service (GMS) and Security Monitoring (SECMON) Ground Segment are led by the European Space Agency.
Tasks and activities
The scope of work will include:
- Interface and coordinate with the GMS, SECMON and GCS prime and subcontractor on activities related to:
- the LAN Galileo Networks (e.g. MDDN, SDDN and EDDN), including the security devices.
- the IT infrastructure, including but not limited to the directories, DNS and time services.
- the activities required to provide monitoring and control infrastructure of the above.
- Support the system team in managing the interface with the Wide Area Network (Galileo Data Dissemination Network – GDDN, and Galileo Restricted Operational Network – GRON). This includes support to ensure technical compliance of Customer Undertakings and Customer Furnished Items.
- Support the Ground Segment and System team in meeting the delivery requirements by accurate monitoring of the planning at all times.
- Support the system team in managing the interfaces inside the Ground Segment and with other Segments (e.g. Space Segment, System test beds).
- Any other activity required to support the Ground Segments activities or reviews in relation to the activities described above.
- Interface and coordination with ESA for the service and OPS-O Galileo Support Delivery Coordinator.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- A university degree in a relevant subject area.
- Solid technical background and knowledge of physical and virtual networking as well as IT Infrastructure.
- Experience in system engineering, ideally in the domain of GNSS (Galileo).
- Experience in planning and following up on AIV activities
- Ability to manage requirements of large space programmes or projects, including breakdown of requirements, tracing of requirements at different levels, changing requirements.
- Experience in the management and monitoring of industrial activities, including negotiations, as well as management of technical reviews.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Experience in the Galileo programme would be extremely useful.
It would be highly desirable to have experience in as many of the following as possible:
- Following project implementation.
- Setting and following SLA through KPIs.
- Procurement activities related to IT and network infrastructure.
- Space System and Segment activities and reviews related to GNSS.
- Experience in managing risks and related associated schedules.
