We are looking for a Space Navigation Document Management Engineer to work at ESTEC’s premises in Noordwijk, Netherlands.

About the client and location

The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. As ESA’s largest test centre, it is responsible for the majority of space technology and spacecraft development through varying phases of production.

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Implement the documentation management processes including the organization of specific meetings with project team members as required & training as needed, ensuring all project members producing documents comply with the prescribed procedure.
  • Maintain the access to PL2 or other specific NTK restriction dedicated folders in Eclipse.
  • Perform the timely and accurate processing of routine and ad-hoc incoming information (documentation, records management).
  • Preparation and delivery of outgoing information e.g. documentation, records and specified data-packages.
  • Monitor and process “Direct-Through” received DPs/DNs, identify faults or non compliances and intervene.
  • Monitor and adjust the documentation handling according to a documentation schedule and priority settings for incoming and outgoing documentation.
  • Supporting the NAV DIRO for reporting the status of NAV Documentation Management on ESA level.
  • Maintaining a dashboard that reflects all documentation Management KPIs and quality parameters.
  • Contributing to project Quarterly / Monthly Implementation Reporting and any other report as required.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, System Engineering, or similar relevant technical domain.
  • At least 4 years of experience in Document management system engineering, ideally in the Space sector.
  • Experience in documentation work-flow improvement, sub-repositories monitoring or access configuration.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

  • Previous contribution or exposure to an ESA project and its documentation.
  • Knowledge of the ECSS standards.
  • Experience in compliance to security and export control requirements.
