Led by the technology of our CSO, Prof. Abdoel el Ghalbzouri, we are dedicated to engineering skin tissue without animals, that can still capture all the biological complexities that makes leather an unbeatable material. Our team is made of dedicated scientists, each with unique expertise to make high quality engineered leather a reality. Beginning with tissue engineering, we leverage decades of medical research leadership from Leiden University Medical Center – Europe’s pioneer in skin engineering. Our living tissue, made from cells, then gets transformed into leather and used as an animal-free alternative in applications across fashion, automotive, interiors, and beyond.
