We are looking for a Configuration Management Officer (CMO) to join the Octagon Professionals projects team at the European Space Agency in Noordwijk (ESTEC). The CMO supports the Business Unit Controlling Office and the Project Management Support Offices, managing configuration and documentation management (CADM) activities across a portfolio of technical projects.

The service is based at ESTEC in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, with remote support to other Agency sites where required.

Please note, that the successful candidate will be employed by Octagon Professionals.

As a CMO you will focus on the following tasks:

  • Support the business unit or project controller in defining, maintaining and standardising CADM processes, tools and plans across projects, ensuring consistency with applicable standards and requirements.
  • Monitor that agreed CADM performance targets are met, together with the Product Assurance Managers and Project Controllers.
  • Support the business unit or project controller in the event of audit requests, support internal Management System Audits, and support the Records Officer in their duties.
  • Coordinate with ESA corporate IT on the set-up of information management tools (e.g. document management systems, SharePoint, MS Teams), planning and scheduling tools (e.g. MS Project, Primavera) and accounting and procurement tools.
  • Support projects in establishing a clear list of baseline requirements and ensure these are entered and maintained in the selected tool.
  • Register and distribute Change Requests, Contract Change Notices and Requests for Deviation or Waiver to the relevant reviewers.
  • Act as secretary to the Change Control Board: prepare meetings by soliciting the required inputs, and follow up on resulting actions, dispositions and contract amendments.
  • Provide status data and maintain a well structured configuration record system.
  • Support project reviews, including administration of the review item discrepancy tracking system, verification of data pack completeness, and registration and distribution of review documentation.

The qualifications and experience requirements are:

  • Master's degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of ESA configuration and documentation management standards, or comparable formal standards, is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of ESA administrative and documentation management tools is an advantage (e.g. product assurance, systems engineering and project control tools).
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken; knowledge of an additional EU member state language is an advantage.
  • A strong team player with leadership skills, comfortable working to tight schedules.
