Process Engineer

To join the Renewable Products Refining Technical department in Rotterdam (Maasvlakte).

Your part in Neste journey

As a Process Engineer you will report to the Process Engineering Supervisor and work closely with the other Process Engineers within the team. You will also work closely with the Operations and Maintenance departments. As a Senior Process Engineer you will be responsible for an assigned area of the Refinery Operations. You will be focusing on the mid to long term unit operations (7 days to 1 year) and are the first line of support to Operations with day to day unit monitoring to ensure compliant, safe, reliable and efficient operations.


Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Technical expert of technology assigned unit;

  • Identify deviations and provide pragmatic solutions in line with guidelines;

  • Ensure to operate assigned unit within environmental boundaries;

  • Unit performance monitoring related to compliance and process safety;

  • Unit performance monitoring related to efficiency (i.e. energy, variable costs and Overall Equipment Effectiveness,

  • Shut-down/Start-up support during planned and unplanned events;

  • Reviewer of operational shut-down/ start-up instructions.

  • Represent the Technical Department as a subject matter expert in Hazop/LOPA/Hazid, reliability studies, PSSR activities, and external audits.

  • Manage process modifications via MOC/tMOC to ensure safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-efficient production.


Keys to success in this role


The best combination of experiences, skills and background is:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably chemical engineering;

  • You are an experienced Process Engineer with at least 2 years of relevant work experience in petrochemical and/or industrial production;

  • Strong and effective stakeholder management and communication;

  • Effective communication skills in English (mandatory) both verbally and in writing. Preferably command of the Dutch language;

  • Experience in Renewable Processes is an advantage.
