Who we are:

For more than 70 years, NATO’s mission has been to preserve peace and security in the Alliance for nearly one billion citizens. The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) and its predecessors have worked tirelessly in providing the means that enable the connectedness and togetherness that keep our Alliance strong. We are the NCI Agency, a team of 3000 civilian and military staff in 29 locations throughout Europe, North America and Asia.

Our technology and cyber experts allow NATO to conduct critical operations, protect NATO’s airspace, make data-driven decisions, defend against cyber-attacks, secure NATO networks and maintain superiority in space. This is all possible because of our greatest force, our people. In order to keep this edge we aim to hire, train and retain the very best staff.

Our staff members represent both the diversity and unity of our Alliance. When you join the NCI Agency, you will be part of an organization where you can contribute authentically to the mission and purpose of NATO and help us keep our technological edge.

About the job:

Based in The Hague, NL, you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join CQO Assurance Solutions Branch (ASB), which delivers services such as Assurance Tools Services and Combined Federated Battle Laboratories Network (CFBLNet) Access Services for European Mission Partners and NATO organizations. CFBLNet supports coalition-level verification, multilateral testing, bilateral testing, and provides secured collaborative spaces.

We are looking for a highly motivated CIS Security Assistant who will take on the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Perform and coordinate security management activities such as monitoring security systems, responding to alerts, conducting security checks, and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.

  • Apply and maintain specific security controls in compliance with organizational policies and risk assessments.

  • Conduct routine risk assessments, contribute to secure systems configurations, and assist in threat intelligence gathering activities.

  • Support investigation of security breaches, perform vulnerability assessments, and maintain records for incident management.

  • Assist with administrative tasks such as documentation and tracking vulnerabilities.

For a full list of duties, please review the job description on the NCI Agency career site.

About you:

The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:

  • Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with at least three years of post-related experience, or secondary education with five years of post-related experience.

  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles (CIA triad) and practical experience with security systems, including Windows/Linux networks and CIS security.

  • Hands-on experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk), log monitoring, vulnerability tracking, and general compliance best practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow security processes and work in IT security roles.

  • Desirable qualifications: Certifications in cybersecurity fields (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP), knowledge of NATO Security Policy or cloud platforms.

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

What we offer:

  • Genuinely meaningful work as part of the most successful alliance in history.

  • Five-year contract with competitive tax-free salary and household and children’s allowances.

  • Privileges for expatriate staff including expatriation and education allowances (where appropriate) and additional home leave.

  • Excellent private health insurance scheme.

  • Generous annual leave of 30 days plus official holidays.

  • NATO Pension Scheme.

  • Development programs, including professional training and wellbeing initiatives.
