About the job:

Based in The Hague, Netherlands you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join The Air Command and Control (AirC2) Business Area. AirC2 ensures the harmonised planning, implementation, deployment, evolution and support of the Air Command and Control (AirC2) and Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) programmes as well as other assigned programmes. AirC2 is the procurement and implementation body of the NCI Agency, charged with the effective planning, execution, delivery into service, evolution and through-life logistic support of NATO’s and assigned national AirC2 and BMD systems.

We are now recruiting for a Function Group Lead, Engineering (FG ENG) to join the AirC2 Centre, reporting directly to the Chief of AirC2 Centre and receiving daily line management from the Deputy Chief. You will operate in close coordination with Service Areas and other Function Groups, acting as a central point for engineering-related leadership and strategic alignment.

As our new FG ENG you will oversee the management of people, processes, and tools within their assigned engineering function. You will provide strategic leadership, ensure technical coherence across service areas, and guide project execution to meet customer and agency objectives. Acting as the key liaison with the CTO on engineering matters, you will coordinate closely with other Function and Service Area Leads to drive business area success.

The FG ENG is accountable to the Chief of AirC2 Centre for the management of people, processes and tools in relation with assigned functions of the Function Group.

You will undertake the likes of the following duties:

  • Enterprise and AirC2 Business Architecture

  • Processes and Business Planning

  • Continuity Management

  • Quality Assurance

  • Function Group Business Management

  • Governance and Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Performance Management

  • Specialist advice

  • Staff Resourcing

  • Tooling

About you:

The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:

Education:

A Master’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in a related scientific or engineering discipline and 5 years post-related experience. Or a Bachelor’s degree with 8 years post related experience.

Experience:

  • Proven 5 years of experience in a leadership role, specifically in managing products, projects and application services.

  • Proven experience in leading mixed teams of technical and business professions in an international environment.

  • Proven skills in project management in a communication and information system context.

  • Proven excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven software and system development life-cycle knowledge.

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
