About the job:

Based in The Hague, Netherlands you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join the Chief Technology Office (CTO), which is the key enabler of NATO’s digital transformation. With the NCIA’s architects and engineers, CTO is the hub for architecting and designing NATO’s ICT technical landscape while driving innovation, standardization, and coherence across the Alliance.

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Senior AI Cloud Engineer who will take on the following roles and responsibilities:

• Build and manage end-to-end ML pipelines on cloud platforms, covering data pre-processing, feature engineering, training, evaluation, and deployment.
• Work closely with data engineers to design cloud-based data pipelines.
• Collaborate with data engineers and ML engineers to productionize models using CI/CD and MLOps best practices.
• Liaise with the Cloud Centre of Excellence.
• Support NATO’s ongoing cloud migration projects.

About you:

The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in a related discipline (such as Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics/Statistics) and 3 years post-related experience. Or, a secondary level educational degree and at least 10 years post-related experience.
• Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GPC) with hands-on experience in cloud data tools like S3, Blob Storage, and GCS. Solid understanding of cloud-based security practices related to Data and AI services. Experience with Infrastructure as Code practices to streamline cloud operations.
• At least 2 years of experience in designing and implementing cloud-based Data Science and AI solutions, with a proven track record of using advanced technologies to achieve business objectives.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with at least one of the following:
o Data manipulation and exploration, including data cleaning, pre-processing
o Machine learning and statistical techniques
o Applying pre-trained models (e.g., Generative AI) for specific use cases.
• Implementing CI/CD pipelines for ML, using cloud-native tools.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
