About the job:
Based in The Hague, in the Netherlands. You will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join the Chief Technology Office (CTO), which is the key enabler of NATO’s digital transformation. This office is a cornerstone for the NCI Agency’s work to advance NATO’s information communications technologies (ICT) that are critical to maintain NATO’s technological edge. With NCI Agency's scientists, architects and engineers, CTO is the hub for architecting and designing NATO’s ICT technical landscape while considering innovation, standardization, and coherence across the Alliance.
We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic space operational systems specialist who will take on the following roles and responsibilities:
- Work to further the Alliance adaptation of Space which aims to guarantee Space services to NATO operations.
- Further develop NCIA’s Space Support to NATO and Alliance operations including but not limited to improving the exchange of Space data, products and services with Nations and commercial partners.
- Support the implementation plan for Space as an operational domain as requested, across the lines of effort of ‘Framework and Guidance’, ‘Space Operational Activities’, and ‘Education and Training.
- Provide expertise across the areas of Satellite Communications (SATCOM); Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR); Positioning Navigation and Timing (PNT); Space Situational Awareness (SSA); Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC); Shared Early Warning (SEW); and Space Security.

About you:
The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:
- A minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in Aerospace engineering, Space Science or a related discipline and 2 years post-related experience related to Space support to operations. Or exceptionally, the lack of a university degree may be compensated by the demonstration of a candidate’s particular abilities or experience that is/are of interest to NCI Agency, that is, at least 6 years extensive and progressive expertise in duties related to the function of the post.
- In depth knowledge of at least 2 (and basic knowledge of all) key space capability areas: Space Situational Awareness, SATCOM, Space based ISR, and Position Navigation and Timing.
- Experience in discussions with industry, international organization and government representatives in the context of space capabilities development.
- Experience in educational activities linked to Space Support to Operations.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
