Job Description

The Opportunity

Mazarine Energy is an international Energy company headquartered in the Netherlands, with operations in Romania and Tunisia. We are looking for a curious and organized junior professional to join our IT & Security team and work directly with the CIO/CISO.

This is a broad, hands-on role built for someone who wants to learn how IT, cybersecurity, compliance and governance all come together in an international business. You will be involved in a bit of everything: coordinating with teams and partners, keeping systems and documentation in order, supporting colleagues, and helping the CIO/CISO stay on top of what matters. No two days will look the same.

You won’t be expected to know it all on day one. What we care about is your drive to learn, your attention to detail, and your ability to keep things moving.

What You’ll Do

Coordinate & Communicate

  • Act as the link between the CIO/CISO and IT/security contacts in Romania, Tunisia, and third-party consultants, keeping everyone aligned.
  • Handle routine vendor and partner communications: follow-ups, scheduling, issue logging, and first-level discussions (e.g., with our ERP partner and security providers).
  • Draft internal announcements, security advisories and policy updates.
  • Handle early-stage communications with authorities or external parties when required, escalating as appropriate.
  • Gather and consolidate information from meetings, emails and reports into concise executive briefings for the CIO/CISO, leveraging AI tools to work efficiently.

Monitor & Report

  • Perform daily health checks on critical systems, cloud services and networks, and flag anomalies with a short, clear summary.
  • Track KPIs, project milestones, and vendor deadlines across all locations, raising issues before they become urgent.
  • Maintain up-to-date inventories of systems, software, vendors and data flows.
  • Help prepare status reports, dashboards, and board-level summaries when needed or requested.

Support & Troubleshoot

  • Provide L1/L2 IT support at headquarters and remotely: workstation setup, software issues, connectivity, user accounts, and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Support colleagues in Romania and Tunisia remotely, escalating to local IT contacts or service providers when needed.
  • Assist with system installations, software rollouts and patch management.

Vendor & Partner Liaison

  • Be the first point of contact for routine interactions with IT and security vendors.
  • Track contracts, renewals, licensing and SLAs, keeping an organized overview.
  • Support gathering quotes, coordinating demos, and preparing comparison summaries.
  • Escalate complex or strategic matters with clear context and background.

Documentation & Knowledge Base

  • Help build and maintain IT and security documentation: policies, procedures, SOPs and technical guides.
  • Keep documentation libraries structured, version-controlled and audit-ready for compliance and board reporting.
  • Flag outdated or missing content and help draft updates as things evolve.

Security & Compliance Support

  • Assist in monitoring cybersecurity tools and dashboards, compiling summaries.
  • Help prepare for audits, risk assessments and compliance activities (including NIS2).
  • Support security awareness initiatives: training sessions, phishing simulations and internal communications.

Training & End-User Enablement

  • Deliver short, practical online training sessions on security awareness, tools and IT policies and procedures.
  • Create simple user guides and FAQs to help colleagues help themselves.

Planning, Cloud & Innovation

  • Support cloud platform management (Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS), user provisioning, access management and basic monitoring.
  • Help identify opportunities for AI, automation or new tools and assist with pilot projects.
  • Travel periodically to Romania and Tunisia for on-site support and to strengthen relationships with local teams.

Where You’ll Grow

This role is designed as a launchpad. With direct mentorship from the CIO/CISO, you will gradually build deeper expertise across:

  • IT Operations, from basic support to enterprise systems and cloud architecture.
  • Cybersecurity, from awareness basics to incident response and risk management.
  • Compliance & Governance, from documentation to regulatory frameworks and audit processes.
  • Vendor Management, from follow-ups to managing partner relationships independently.
  • AI & Innovation, from exploring tools to transformation projects.
  • International working environment where you will be coordinating and managing cross-country security and IT alignment.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

Education

  • HBO or WO-diploma in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, Information Systems or a related field.
  • Certifications (CompTIA, ITIL, Microsoft, Cisco, AWS...) or a WO-master diploma are a plus, not a requirement.

Experience

  • No professional experience required, this is an entry-level role with full mentorship.
  • Internships, academic projects, or any relevant exposure to IT or cybersecurity are valued but not mandatory.

Technical Baseline

  • Basic understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, Wi-Fi) and cybersecurity principles.
  • Comfortable with Windows; basic familiarity with Linux is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure/AWS is an advantage; interest in scripting (PowerShell, Python) is a bonus.
  • Willingness to learn enterprise systems, cloud platforms, and security tools on the job.

Who You Are

  • Organized and detail-oriented, you follow through and keep things on track.
  • A clear communicator who can summarize complex information simply.
  • Proactive, you look for what needs to happen next without being asked.
  • Comfortable switching between different types of tasks throughout the day.
  • Professional and reliable when working with partners, vendors, and international colleagues.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn, ready to grow beyond your comfort zone.
  • Open to periodic international travel to Romania and Tunisia.
