Design Engineer
Manometric
Job description
Redefine the world of orthotics and prosthetics
Not too long ago, a man walked into our office with a guitar under his arm. He had written a song for Manometric - and for the first time in three years, he could play again. All thanks to a small, perfectly fitting hand brace.
That’s what we build. At Manometric, we design and produce custom orthoses using proprietary 3D scanning, smart software and scalable production - working directly with hospitals and clinics across the Netherlands and expanding into Germany. As we grow fast, the challenge shifts towards building better products: combining design, engineering and user insight into solutions that people actually want to wear. That’s why we’re hiring a Design Engineer. Someone who can turn ideas into tangible products and help shape the next generation of our orthoses and scanners.
The role you play in our growth
As we scale, product challenges shift from execution to innovation. The challenges you’ll work on are systemic: developing new orthosis concepts from idea to production-ready solutions, improving how we design and manufacture at scale, and continuously refining our products based on real user feedback and clinical insights.
In this role, you translate ideas into tangible products. You design, prototype, test and iterate - turning complex challenges into solutions that people actually want to wear. Working closely with engineers, software developers and external partners, you build products that hold up in both design and real-world use.
You operate at the intersection of design, engineering and project ownership, collaborating closely with Vincent, Tom, Daan, Rik, Max and Martijn, with the potential to grow into a leading role within the team.
What you’ll be doing
Design medical products from start to finish: from initial idea to production ready solution
Think conceptually, prototype, test, and improve based on user insights
Take ownership of projects, working with team members and external partners
Research materials and suppliers and negotiate production deals
Apply your knowledge of 3D printing, soft goods, silicones, and composites
Translate complex challenges into concrete next actions in your projects
Turn user needs into smart, durable, and beautifully designed products
Work with tools such as SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion360 or equivalent CAD software
