System Engineering Intern
ISISPACE Group
Job description
As a System Engineering Intern, you will perform a design study for an equipment item within our Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS). The objective is to build an electronic equipment item that processes the output from a Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Star Tracker into attitude and rate information, enabling precise knowledge of the spacecraft’s orientation. You’ll work in a hands-on engineering environment where you can move quickly from concept and interfaces to prototypes, testing and iteration—together with electrical, mechanical and production engineers.
What you’ll do
· Take the lead in a design study of an equipment item for CubeSat and SmallSat spacecraft
· Support trade-offs and design decisions around size, weight, power, cost and interfaces.
· Help translate performance requirements into practical solutions (component selection, mechanical design).
· Build a demonstration setup, using development boards or custom hardware.
· Set up and support testing activities (test setups, instrumentation support, executing tests, capturing results).
· Assist with documenting designs and tests (design documentation, engineering notes and test reports).
Job requirements
· You are a Master’s student in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (or a closely related field).
· Solid understanding of system engineering fundamentals.
· Comfortable with software development and scripting (Python, git).
· Experience building electronic test setups, including development boards.
· You enjoy combining analysis with hands-on work (building, testing, improving)
· Bonus points if you have experience with schematic and PCB design (lab work, student teams, own projects).
