Organisational Context
Within the Registry and under the direct supervision of the Director of External Operations, the Public Information and Outreach Section (PIOS) ensures that the proceedings are accessible to the public, raises awareness, and promotes an understanding about the Court's mandate and activities with the ultimate goal of getting support. It does so in relation to a number of target audiences, including global audiences, mainly encompassing international press and media, victims and communities affected by crimes within the jurisdiction of the Court; and key stakeholders such as legal communities, academics and non-governmental organisations. PIOS achieves its objectives through the use of a variety of communication means including granting interviews to media, production of press releases and other publications and audio-visual materials as well as through the website and new social media platforms. PIOS also organises campaigns and is responsible for the organisation of events and visits ranging from general groups to high profile visitors.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Spokesperson and Head of the Public Affairs Unit, the incumbent contributes to institutional public communication efforts to general public and global audiences as well as for academic and legal communities mainly in Latin American and in connection with the investigation related to the Situation in Venezuela. S/he also supports the work of international/regional media outlets and participates at public speaking events, by either giving presentations on specific subjects, or by preparing briefings materials for senior officials. In addition, the incumbent will assist the Spokesperson with administrative and management matters related to the Unit, including the preparation of work plans and the drafting of reports.
In particular he/she performs the following duties:
- Producing and disseminating information, through a diverse range of communication products for different audiences (general public, legal communities and academia) in the Latin American region and in connection with the investigation related to the Situation in Venezuela, according to a coordinated action plan;
- Monitoring and analyzing current events, public opinion, social media and press; identifying issues and trends in Venezuela and the Latin American region regarding the ICC;
- Write and edit content for social media and web, supporting the creation of infographics and other visual communication materials;
- Maintain regular contacts and cooperation with medias and organize specialized training on the ICC;
- Assist the Spokesperson in expanding and developing press contacts and periodically review and enhance the press list;
- Support implementation of and reporting on academic and legal programmes in the Latin American region, complementary to the general Section’s academic and legal programmes, by creating and maintaining networks, and identifying and proposing innovative information approaches and opportunities (such as lectures, conferences or public events) to reach out relevant target groups;
- Contribute to the development of new public information tools and multi-media activities in order to further the Court information programmes, including for campaigns, exhibitions and special events;
- Represent the Court at public speaking events by giving general presentations;
- Prepare reports and speaking points for briefings to be given by senior officials.
Qualifications
Education
An advanced university degree in Journalism, Public Information, Law, or a related field is required. A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience is accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience
A minimum of two years (four years with a first level university degree) of relevant professional experience in communications, journalism, public information, law, preferably within a legal international context, is required.

Knowledge of Languages
Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court (English or French) is required. Working knowledge of the other is highly desirable. Mother tongue proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese or Russian) would be considered an asset.

General Information
- In accordance with the Rome Statute, the ICC is committed to achieving geographical representation and gender equality within its staff as well as representation of the principal legal systems of the world (legal positions).
