Special Notice:
A Short-Term Appointment is used to recruit staff to meet short-term needs. The duration of this assignment is provided above. The maximum duration of a short-term appointment including extensions shall not exceed 12 months.
A Short-Term Appointment does not carry any expectancy, legal or otherwise, of renewal and shall not be converted to any other type of appointment.
Due to the short-term nature of the assignment, the ICC reserves the right to make an appointment at one grade lower than that stated in the vacancy with a modified job description.
A current ICC staff member who is holding a fixed-term appointment may apply for any short-term position. Where a current ICC staff member is selected to a short-term position, he or she will be temporarily assigned to the position in line with section 4.10 of ICC/AI/2016/001. GS-level posts are subject to local recruitment only.
The terms and conditions of service for staff members appointed under a short-term appointment are governed by ICC/AI/2016/001.

Organisational Context
Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Division of External Operations, the Public Information and Outreach Section (PIOS) ensures that the proceedings are accessible to the public, raises awareness and promotes an understanding about the Court’s mandate and activities with the ultimate goal of getting support. It does so in relation to a number of target audiences across the globe, mainly encompassing international press and media, victims and communities affected by crimes within the jurisdiction before the Court; and key stakeholders such as legal communities, academics and non-governmental organisations. PIOS achieves its objectives through the use of a variety of communication means including granting interviews to media, press releases and production of other publications and audio-visual materials as well as through the website and social media platforms. PIOS is also responsible for the organisation of campaigns, events, and visits ranging from general groups to high profile visitors. It consists of four units: Public Affairs Unit; Protocol, Events and Visits Unit; Outreach Unit and Audio-Visual Production Unit.
The Public Affairs Unit (PAU) aims at promoting the understanding of the ICC mandate and activities by providing accurate, meaningful and timely information to the general public and other target groups such as media, civil society, academic and legal communities. In addition to providing messages and answers to journalists and the general public directly and through its publications, the Unit makes use of new communication channels in order to strengthen the ICC digital online presence, reflecting the visual identity of a modern, just, strong and independent judicial institution. It aims also to engage with the different target groups in an inspiring way, to call them to action in support of the Court and to build specific joint awareness projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Public Affairs Unit, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
• Assist in the implementation of the social media strategy;
• Assist in the day-to-day management of social media platforms; provide substantive support to the production of content, edit photographs and graphics to support the text;
• Identify and prepare new material for inclusion in appropriate web pages, including drafting and editing text;
• Support the weekly analysis of statistics on usage of the ICC website and social media platforms in order to assess usefulness and relevance of material posted;
• Monitor social media platforms and trends; summarise and present trends and feedback; suggest ideas on how to present new content;
• Assist in preparing material for press releases, fact sheets, and other digital and print publications;
• Assist with responses to information requests and inquiries from the media and the public;
• Monitor press and produce daily press review;
• Make logistical and administrative arrangements for press conferences, press briefings, and public hearings ensuring that room arrangements are in order and materials are available;
• Support the management of the photograph archives; add metadata to photographs; research and curate external photographs, obtain requisite clearances and copyrights;
• Provide administrative support and assist with statistical and other reports to keep records of performance indicators of the Unit.
Qualifications
Education
Diploma of secondary education.
Experience
• A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations or other related field, is required. An advanced or a first-level university degree may be considered as a substitute for two years' working experience.
• Experience in the management or maintenance of social media and digital communication platforms is highly desirable.
• International field experience is desirable.

• Excellent organisational, interpersonal, communication and administrative skills. Proven ability to manage diverse and complex tasks.
• Excellent drafting skills.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently.
Knowledge of Languages
Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, French or English is required. Working knowledge of the other is considered an asset. Knowledge of another official language of the Court
(Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) would be considered an asset.

General Information
Candidates appointed to posts at a P-5 grade or in the Director category are subject to a maximum aggregate length of service of seven years. This is pursuant to a decision of the Assembly of States Parties (ASP Resolution ICC-ASP/23/Res.2) to implement a tenure policy at the Court as of 1 January 2025.
- The selected candidate will be subject to a Personnel Security Clearance (PSC) process in accordance with ICC policy. The PSC process will include but will not be limited to, verification of the information provided in the personal history form and a criminal record check.

- Post to be filled by a national of a State Party to the ICC Statute, or of a State which has signed and is engaged in the ratification process or which is engaged in the accession process.
