The International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) is an international organization with its Headquarters situated in The Hague, the Netherlands. Internship Setting

The Communications Unit at ICMP acts as a vital link between ICMP and its internal and external stakeholders. Using multiple communication channels, including ICMP’s website and social media platforms, the Unit engages with a broad audience to present ICMP’s work and that of its partners, and to call for action related to specific aspects of the missing persons issue. Additionally, the Unit coordinates, designs, and distributes ICMP publications, and produces and maintains ICMP visibility materials. Responsibilities of the Unit also include, media outreach and engagement, maintaining relationships with international and regional media, providing informative briefings on ICMP’s programs and activities, and coordinating and planning internal communications activities. The selected intern will support the Communications Unit in creating creative content and audiovisual material for social media, among other relevant tasks.

Main duties and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Communications Coordinator, the intern will assist in the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in producing and creating engaging audiovisual and promotional material, including video content for our social media channels.
  • Contribute to the execution of social media activities.
  • Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and develop innovative communications content ideas.
  • Assist the Communications team with other related tasks as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates for this internship must:

  • Be enrolled in an university degree program in the areas of Communications, Journalism, or a related field;
  • Be proficient in English, both oral and written; fluency in written and spoken Arabic, Spanish or Ukrainian is desirable;
  • Have experience working with Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Have experience in working with Adobe After Effects and/or Premiere;
  • Have excellent video editing and communication skills;
  • Be capable of carrying out tasks with attention to detail and with tight deadlines; and
  • Be able to adapt to a multicultural and multilingual working environment, and interact positively with colleagues regardless of culture, nationality, or gender.

BEFORE APPLYING FOR THIS INTERNSHIP PLEASE CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:

Starting date and duration: As soon as possible. Internships are available for periods ranging from 3 (three) to 6 (six) months.

Minimum age: Interns should be at least 19 (nineteen) years of age at the date of application.

Working hours: There will be one full-time internship position (40 hours/per week; Monday to Friday) available. Another internship position may be made available either as full-time (40 hours/per week; Monday to Friday) or as part-time, with hours to be agreed with the supervisor. As agreed with their supervisor, the intern(s) must provide written notice in case of illness or other unavoidable circumstances that prevent them from observing these working hours.

Flexible work arrangement: Interns will be able to arrange a flexible schedule alternating in-office and remote work upon agreement with the supervisor. ICMP is not in a position to provide the intern(s) with office equipment for remote work arrangements.

Visa and travel: Interns are responsible for obtaining any necessary visas. If required, ICMP may request the host state to assist a selected intern(s) in obtaining visas. Costs and arrangements for travel, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of intern(s).

Insurance: Interns are responsible for obtaining valid medical insurance coverage and providing proof of the same to ICMP prior to the start of the internship placement.

Conduct and confidentiality: Interns are required to sign and abide by the ICMP Code of Ethical Conduct. ICMP has the authority to terminate any internship due to unsatisfactory performance or conduct.

Privileges and immunities: In the Hague, the Netherlands – unless Dutch nationals or otherwise entitled to residency in the Netherlands – interns will be registered with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a maximum period of six months and are obliged to leave the Netherlands within 15 (fifteen) days after the end of their internship with ICMP.

Renumeration: This is an unpaid internship.

Expected start date: 1 August 2024

VN close date: 15 July 2024
