The Associate Manager, Digital Licensing & Partner Operations supports the operational delivery of the IB’s digital partnership and licensing activities. The role focuses on managing outbound and inbound licensing processes, coordinating operational interactions with digital partners, and ensuring compliance with copyright, IP, technical and data protection requirements.

The role sits within the Digital Partnerships team, which is responsible for maintaining and expanding partnerships with publishers, licensing partners, LMS providers, online course platforms and other EdTech organisations, as well as managing APIs that enable digital integration with IB systems.


The Associate Manager, Digital Licensing & Partner Operations supports the operational delivery of the IB’s digital partnership and licensing activities. The role focuses on managing outbound and inbound licensing processes, coordinating operational interactions with digital partners, and ensuring compliance with copyright, IP, technical and data protection requirements. The role sits within the Digital Partnerships team, which is responsible for maintaining and expanding partnerships with publishers, licensing partners, LMS providers, online course platforms and other EdTech organisations, as well as managing APIs that enable digital integration with IB systems.

Knowledge & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Publishing, Education Technology or equivalent experience
  • Experience in licensing, copyright clearance, digital content operations or EdTech partnerships
  • Understanding of global copyright and IP licensing principles
  • Experience working with publishers, LMS platforms or EdTech providers
  • Familiarity with APIs, metadata and digital interoperability concepts

Technical skills

  • Experience with contract management systems, rights databases or licensing tools
  • Comfortable working with API documentation and integration workflows
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn new systems quickly

Soft skills

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple workflows concurrently and meet deadline

The role holder is expected to:

  1. Manage outbound licensing and digital partner agreements
    Manage the operational lifecycle of outbound licensing agreements for IB intellectual property, APIs, curriculum metadata and digital assets, including contract support, renewals, attribution compliance and partner communication.
  2. Oversee inbound rights licensing and copyright clearance
    Lead end‑to‑end copyright clearance activities for IB commercial and digital products, ensuring timely permissions, risk mitigation and compliance. Manage a pool of freelance copyright clearance consultants and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  3. Coordinate API licensing and technical partner onboarding
    Manage operational processes for API access, including documentation, compliance checks and coordination with Technology, Academic and Data Protection teams to ensure partners meet all requirements prior to go‑live.
  4. Monitor digital partner compliance and IP protection
    Monitor partner use of IB IP, content, branding, metadata and APIs. Identify non‑compliance or risk issues and coordinate resolution with relevant internal stakeholders.
  5. Support curriculum updates and partner alignment
    Ensure partners remain aligned with IB curriculum updates, assessment changes and metadata revisions through timely communication and coordination.
  6. Maintain partner records, reporting and revenue tracking
    Maintain accurate records relating to contracts, API usage, copyright clearance, licensing fees and royalties, supporting reporting, forecasting and dashboards.
  7. Drive continuous improvement of licensing and operational processes
    Identify and implement improvements to licensing, clearance and partner onboarding processes to improve efficiency while strengthening governance and IP protection.
