NL (HG16): EUR 72.851-91.063 annually including 8% holiday allowance
UK (HG16): GBP 49.314-61.642 annually
US (HG16): USD 96.722-119.879 annually

The role of the research department is to be a service unit that is integrated within the Education Office to be an evidence-driven impact research unit, providing feedback and measuring how curriculum, how assessment, how professional learning, and school requirements are making impact. The work through our research will help us learn from our existing knowledge and create new knowledge. They will also serve the Schools Alliance Office in their recognition, growth and retention. Also supporting post exam cycle.

The Education Research Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the IB Education Office’s research, evaluation, and innovation agenda. The postholder transforms raw educational data into meaningful, accessible insights by preparing high-quality datasets, conducting exploratory and inferential analyses, and co-developing tools for continuous learning across the IB. Working across student, school, and educator domains, the analyst collaborates closely with researchers, statisticians, survey designers, data scientists, to contribute to research-informed decision-making and educational development.

  • Master’s degree in educational research, educational measurement, statistics, or a closely related field.

  • At least three years of previous experience that aligns directly with this role.

  • Proficiency in Python, R, or other data analysis tools.

  • Experience managing large datasets.

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI and experiences using survey software/platforms (e.g. Qualtrics) will be a plus.

  • Strong foundation in statistics, including understanding of distributions, sampling, and inferential methods.

  • Strong understanding of educational datasets and structures (e.g., Likert data, time-on-task, school-level performance).

  • Ability to pose research questions and design analyses based on research or policy needs.

  • Understanding of both the potential and limits of data in informing educational change.

  • Ability to explain technical concepts and findings to diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work in interdisciplinary and cross-functional teams.

  • Commitment to ethical use of data, respecting confidentiality, consent, and security.

  • Understanding of emerging issues in responsible AI, data bias, and educational data justice

  • Clean, restructure, and transform raw datasets from multiple sources (e.g., surveys, assessments, programme data, learning analytics, external large datasets) into analysable formats so that it can be used to develop regular standard reports for stakeholders as well as to develop customized reports

  • Ensure consistency, integrity, security, and traceability across data workflows; maintain comprehensive documentation of datasets, codebooks, data dictionaries, and analysis pipelines.

  • Conduct descriptive and exploratory analysis to identify patterns, trends, and relationships.

  • Conduct inferential and multivariate analyses (e.g., regression, clustering, ANOVA) in collaboration with research managers and other analysts.

  • Generate recurring and ad hoc reports for research teams, programme leads, and leadership.

  • Design and maintain dashboards, infographics, and other visual summaries that communicate insights to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Support survey projects as needed, including designing and distributing surveys, analysing and reporting survey data.

  • Prepare customized datasets to support qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method research inquiries across the Student, School, and Educator research domains.

  • Work collaboratively with innovation, school system design, student learning design, educator development and design, school & government partnership office and relevant stakeholders to evaluate new pilots and prototypes using data-informed methods.

  • Access large national and international datasets, restructure, perform data linking with the IB data records and analyse them to produce institutional insights, briefs, or publications.

  • Uphold high standards of data ethics, especially in handling sensitive student and school-level data.

  • Contribute to compliance with data protection policies (e.g., GDPR), including anonymization and secure storage protocols.

  • Lead the development of quality control procedures related to extracting and analyzing research data

  • Share findings through internal presentations, research forums, or academic conferences.

  • Participate in capacity building efforts, including internal workshops or peer mentoring on data literacy.

  • Support the development and execution of a multi-year data storage plan to support programme research and innovation

  • Support the collaboration with business units including IT to align data capture, definitions, and storage for research
