Salary: 57.000 – 72.000 EURO (annually incl. 8% holiday allowance)

Job Type: Fixed Term, 5 months (Full-Time )

Location: IB (International Baccalaureate®) Global Centre, The Hague (required)

The International Baccalaureate (IB) depends on high-quality, ongoing professional development that provides transformative experiences for international educators so they can do the same for IB students. As the IB continues to grow, the organization intends to broaden the access and impact of its services and programmes. Therefore, the Professional Learning (PL) department strives to provide an increasing number of services to new and experienced IB educators to build the capacity of educators globally.

The Learning designer will play a thought partnership role in implementing innovative digital design into P product development consistent with IB philosophy. The Learning Designer is part of a collaborative, high-functioning development team. They are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of how technology enhances the participant experience and to identify tools that align with best practice in the learning environment. The Learning Designer is also expected to stay abreast of industry standards and practices to affirm the IB’s world-leading role in professional learning.

Responsibilities

1. Digital learning design

  • Work collaboratively as part of a development team with IB educators, IB Learning and teaching staff, PL leadership, and other departments, towards a design thinking process with iterative loops, to create learning designs that enhance the participant experience.
  • Develop and revise eLearning modules to replace older content based on stakeholder feedback
  • Design or re-design digital prototypes for stakeholder review, seek, process and implement feedback
  • Demonstrate an understanding and execution of requirements to develop online courses end-to-end.
  • Conduct collaborative learning design reviews of roadmaps, storyboards and PL products.
  • Work collaboratively with other learning designers to maintain digital quality standards
  • Actively participate in team initiatives and projects and cooperate with team members in a manner that reflects a commitment to team goals and objectives, effective communication, information sharing and problem solving practices
  • Work with production assocaites to ensure products are developed on time

2. Multimedia production and technical projects

  • Design and develop creative learning experiences and digital assets in multiple modalities, including interactive eLearning modules, videos, infographics, etc.
  • Complete the production and design of a variety of products across a range of delivery modes, such as face-face, online, synchronous and asynchronous
  • Represent Professional Learning in organization-wide technical projects

3. Innovation and research

  • Assess, design, develop and evaluate eLearning solutions, in collaboration with development team members
  • Advise on project scoping, coordinating contributions from learning analytics, video, audio, communication design, programming and other specialists
  • Conduct research on and enhance learning design approaches, trends and techniques.
  • Provides insight and solutions to support a global audience with an appreciation for the IB’s approaches to teaching
  • Test new learning design approaches (eg. virtual personas, scenarios, content chunking, multimedia inclusion)
  • Introduce and trial the use of new tools to support developers, facilitators and participant experience and learning outcomes

4. Quality assurance

  • Ensure that digital products and services are consistent with PL design values and organisational requirements (eg Style guide, marketing and branding)
  • Support the evaluation of projects
  • Conduct QA/UX audits and design improvement audits of online workshops
  • Conduct regular user experience audits prior to launch

Qualifications

  • An advanced degree in education, learning design, e-learning or educational sciences or an equivalent amount of experience in this field
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with digital content, learning management systems and digital authoring tools
  • Relevant experience in experience design for adult learners.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in instructional design and education technologies and design trends.
  • Preferred: experience with international education and/or international non-profit organizations

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Open-minded to a variety of perspectives and experiences
