Senior Product Designer

HousingAnywhere

HousingAnywhere

Product, Design
Posted on Apr 4, 2026

We’re on a mission to become the go-to destination for students across Europe to find a trusted home away from home. We make every step of the rental journey simple and seamless, so students can focus on what really matters: studying, exploring, and growing.

With HousingAnywhere, Kamernet, and Studapart under our roof, we’re Europe’s largest student rental platform.

You’ll find us in Rotterdam, Paris, and Cergy, always guided by our four core values: Ownership, We are enablers, We are changemakers, and We are connectors.

Join us in empowering students to unlock their potential through a safe, online, rental experience.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Design team and shape the future of search and discovery across a two-sided rental marketplace.

At HousingAnywhere, discovery is not just about finding listings, it’s about building trust, enabling confident decisions, and driving successful bookings between tenants and landlords across borders.

You’ll be collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and Data to improve relevance, ranking, qualification, and conversion across the funnel.

This is a problem-shaping role. You are expected to define what should be built, not just how it looks.

Key responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the entire design process in your team, from initial research and discovery, ideation, conceptualisation and design to testing and validation of the solutions.
  • Own and drive the performance and metrics for experience you build. Be conscious of how your design solutions impact users.
  • Deeply understand the day-to-day operations of our internal supply teams, their goals and needs. Lead with user-centric design by absorbing internal customer feedback and insights received across all channels.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for UX improvements in your domain, working in close collaboration with the product manager, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate design workshops together with colleagues from UX and other teams.
  • Be an ambassador for design thinking and experience design towards internal stakeholders and teams.

Your profile

  • 7+ years of experience in product design for complex digital products.
  • Strong experience with search, discovery, or marketplace platforms.
  • Proven ability to design end-to-end user journeys in multi-step decision flows.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams (Product + Engineering + Data).
  • Ability to independently drive discovery and define problem spaces.
  • Strong interaction design and UX craft.
  • Experience using data, metrics, and experimentation to inform decisions.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ranking, recommendation systems, or personalization.
  • Experience in two-sided marketplaces.
  • Familiarity with conversion optimization and funnel metrics.
  • Experience mentoring designers or contributing to design standards.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Takes full ownership and drives work forward independently.
  • Is proactive and challenges assumptions when needed.
  • Is comfortable navigating trade-offs between user needs and business goals.
  • Brings clarity to complexity and ambiguity.
  • Cares deeply about quality, outcomes, and real user impact.
  • Is analytical and curious, using data to inform decisions .

This role comes with real complexity:

  • You’ll balance tenant experience vs. landlord success vs. marketplace health.
  • You’ll work with imperfect data and evolving ranking logic.
  • You’ll face ambiguous problems with no obvious solutions.
  • You’ll be expected to deliver both speed and high-quality craft.

If you want to own impactful problems in a real marketplace environment, this is the right place for you!

What’s in it for you

  • Unlimited paid holidays, minimum-based, not maximum!
  • Position based in our Rotterdam office with a hybrid working policy (2 office days).
  • Flexibility to work remotely in another country than the Netherlands for up to 2 months per year!
  • 1,000 EUR per year personal development budget.
  • Complete coverage for commuting.
  • Personal equipment, including a laptop and ergonomic setup.
  • Gym membership discount with GoVital or OneFit.
  • Dutch/English classes budget.
  • Variable pension scheme.
  • Diverse international community (46+ nationalities).
  • Pet-friendly office in Rotterdam city centre.
  • Team-building events and after-work drinks every Friday.
