General
Hotelschool The Hague was founded and funded in 1929 by the hospitality industry, to create a hub where industry partners could gain and share new insights, skills and knowledge. Since then, it has become a professional operation with a solid international reputation in hospitality management. Hotelschool The Hague has several programs on offer, including a four-year Bachelor of Arts in hospitality management, a fast-track bachelor program and a 13-month Master of Business Administration in international hospitality management. We also offer a master’s degree in Leading Hotel Transformation.
Department
You will join a multidisciplinary team of professionals in a challenging and friendly environment. The school community is international, which means both the educational program and all business communication are in English. Leadership is closely integrated into the overall four-year curriculum. As a leadership skills lecturer, you therefore play an important role in inspiring students' learning journeys
General function description
• You will teach, train, coach and assess students in leadership and communication skills
• Areas of focus within communication include giving and receiving feedback, giving
presentations, demonstrating assertiveness in dealing with conflicts, and practicing proactive communication within teamwork
• Leadership skills are focused on the development of the students’ emotional intelligence and ability to deal with adversity within the context of leadership, including the training of motivating employees, progress and appraisal interviews and meeting skills.
• You will be developing and improving courses that are closely linked to real-world (hospitality)management practices.
• Two to four times per year, you will guide students through a week-long outdoor leadership development program.
Candidate profile
You have/are:
- You are a professional and motivating trainer who excels in encouraging and triggering young adults in their personal and professional development. With a background in hospitality, preferably holding a Bachelor Hotelschool Degree, you bring valuable experience in leading teams.
- You are flexible and an active team player, always willing to cooperate and contribute towards the university’s success. You thrive in an English-speaking, dynamic, and academic environment, and possess a master’s degree that ensures a solid academic foundation.
- Your professional journey includes at least 4 years of experience in training communication, leadership, and management skills, with some of this experience gained in an international environment. You have several years of teaching experience or a demonstrated affinity for teaching, with considerable experience in training and coaching, ideally using agile methods or relationship management approaches.
- Your analytical and conceptual skills enable you to think critically and develop innovative solutions to complex challenges. You have an excellent command of the English language (C1 level or higher) and possess outstanding social and communication abilities that allow you to connect with diverse individuals and inspire confidence.
- You have insight into and knowledge of current developments in management, with management experience being an advantage. Familiarity with the hospitality industry is a valuable plus.
- You are capable of working independently with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving, anticipating challenges, and taking initiative to address them effectively. Your enthusiastic approach to education emphasizes coaching students to handle real-world professional assignments effectively.
Remuneration
Hotelschool The Hague offers a salary based on scale 11 of the labour agreement of Universities of Applied Science (CAO HBO), with a range between € 4.535,96 and€ 6.359,47 per month, depending on your professional experience and qualifications.
In addition, Hotelschool The Hague offers:

Additional information
Hotelschool The Hague works with a 40-hour workweek. The starting date for this position is as soon as possible depending on the notice period of the applicant.
The work location for this position is both our Campus in Amsterdam and Campus The Hague.
