Your role in the story:

At Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC), health, safety, and environmental performance are embedded in everything we do. In the exciting world of offshore marine contracting, we work on innovative and challenging projects worldwide where safe execution and continuous improvement are key.

As HSE Advisor, you support commercial projects from preparation to offshore execution across three Business Units. You provide guidance and practical solutions on HSE-related aspects and challenges internally across various departments and stakeholders.

You act as an ambassador of our Dare to Care mindset, HSE principles, and the continuous improvement of HSE systems, processes, and reporting. In this role, you also contribute to achieving the annual HSE Department Plan Objectives & Targets. The role may include offshore or international travel, depending on project needs.

What you will be working on:

  • Ensuring compliance with international and local regulations, company policies and procedures, and industry standards

  • Conducting risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify and mitigate hazards

  • Supporting internal and external audits and ensuring audit readiness at all times

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in HSE performance

  • Planning, arranging, and delivering HSE training for managers, supervisors, employees, and subcontractors

  • Reviewing and validating HSE documentation and project plans

Key ingredients for success:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as an onshore HSE Advisor, preferably in the Oil & Gas, Maritime and/or Construction industry

  • BSc HSE Qualification, HVK, IVK, NEBOSH Diploma / Certificate, or equivalent

  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices in maritime and offshore environments

  • Other relevant HSE training and/or certifications are a plus, (e.g. OPITO / GWO, ISO (Lead) Auditor)

  • Strong English communication skills, CEFR B2 or higher; Dutch is a plus

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Effective writing, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with personnel at all levels of the organization with confidence, respect, and integrity
