Your role in the story
As a Master Data Management (MDM) Specialist, you are responsible for structuring and improving how master data is managed across Heerema, including data related to customers, employees and products.
Master Data Management is still in a build-up phase within the organization. We have clear ambitions to improve data quality and establish more consistent ways of working. Your role is to bring these initiatives together into one sustainable MDM approach that supports the business as it continues to grow.
You coordinate MDM activities centrally and provide functional leadership to Data Stewards. By connecting different data domains, you ensure consistency, set priorities and drive tangible improvements. You know when to align stakeholders, when to challenge existing ways of working and when to make decisions that move the organization forward.
You report to the Data & Analytics Lead and work closely with both business and IT. You understand the organizational context and know how to create alignment and drive change across different stakeholders.
Where you will be working on
- Coordinating and further developing the central MDM approach across the organization
- Functionally guiding and supporting Data Stewards (currently 2, with potential growth)
- Ensuring alignment and consistency across different master data domains
- Defining and embedding data governance, standards and ways of working
- Improving data quality through frameworks, KPIs and monitoring
- Designing and optimizing MDM processes (create/change/retire)
- Driving the adoption of Master Data Management across the business
- Collaborating with business, IT and stakeholders to implement and sustain improvements
Key ingredients for success
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Master Data Management, data governance and data quality
- Strong understanding of MDM concepts, governance frameworks and operating models
- Experience working in an ERP-driven, project-based environment, preferably with SAP
- Ability to translate business needs into sustainable data standards, rules and processes
- Experience guiding and influencing professionals without direct line-management responsibility
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Analytical, structured and continuously focused on improvement
- Decisive, able to set priorities and balance governance with business needs
