Job Summary
Manage installation, configuration, upgrade, and patching for: Sybase ASE / SAP DB environments, Oracle (RAC, Data Guard, ASM) & SQL Server (AlwaysOn, Clustering, Replication) Database Lead is responsible for end-to-end ownership of enterprise database environments (Sybase, Oracle, SQL Server)
Database Lead is responsible for end-to-end ownership of enterprise database environments (Sybase, Oracle, SQL Server), ensuring high availability, performance optimization, security compliance, and operational excellence. The role combines technical leadership, delivery ownership, and team management in a multi-geo 24x7 support environment.\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nKey Responsibilities\\\\r\\\\n1. Delivery & Operations Ownership\\\\r\\\\n• Ensure 99.9%+ database availability aligned with SLA commitments\\\\r\\\\n• Own incident, problem, and change management lifecycle\\\\r\\\\n• Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive actions \\\\r\\\\n• Manage database environments across Production, DR, UAT, and Dev\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\n2. Database Administration & Engineering\\\\r\\\\n• Manage installation, configuration, upgrade, and patching for: \\\\r\\\\no Oracle (RAC, Data Guard, ASM, GoldenGate)\\\\r\\\\no SQL Server (AlwaysOn, Clustering, Replication)\\\\r\\\\no Sybase ASE / SAP DB environments\\\\r\\\\n• Design and maintain HA/DR strategies and backup frameworks \\\\r\\\\n• Lead database migrations, consolidation, and modernization initiatives\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\n3. Performance & Optimization\\\\r\\\\n• Perform advanced performance tuning (query tuning, indexing, execution plans, wait analysis)\\\\r\\\\n• Optimize database workloads and capacity planning\\\\r\\\\n• Ensure proactive monitoring and automation for performance improvements\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\n4. Governance, Security & Compliance\\\\r\\\\n• Ensure compliance with audit, security, and regulatory standards\\\\r\\\\n• Manage database access controls, encryption, and vulnerability remediation\\\\r\\\\n• Plan and execute patching/upgrades for security posture improvement \\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\n5. Automation & Innovation\\\\r\\\\n• Drive automation using Shell scripting, SQL, Ansible, or similar tools\\\\r\\\\n• Introduce improvements in monitoring, alerting, and self-healing mechanisms\\\\r\\\\n• Evaluate and recommend new database technologies and architectures \\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\n6. Leadership & Stakeholder Management\\\\r\\\\n• Lead and mentor L1/L2/L3 DBAs, build skill roadmap and competency uplift \\\\r\\\\n• Act as primary interface with customers, application teams, and vendors\\\\r\\\\n• Drive service reviews, escalation handling, and client satisfaction\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\n7. Strategy & Transformation\\\\r\\\\n• Define database standards, architecture, and best practices\\\\r\\\\n• Support cloud adoption (Azure/AWS/OCI) and hybrid database models\\\\r\\\\n• Contribute to cost optimization and capacity efficiency initiatives\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nTechnical Skills Required\\\\r\\\\nMandatory\\\\r\\\\n• Strong expertise in: \\\\r\\\\no Oracle (RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM)\\\\r\\\\no SQL Server (HA/DR, AlwaysOn)\\\\r\\\\no Sybase ASE / SAP DB\\\\r\\\\n• Hands-on experience in: \\\\r\\\\no Performance tuning & troubleshooting\\\\r\\\\no Backup & recovery strategies\\\\r\\\\no Database migration and upgrades\\\\r\\\\nPreferred\\\\r\\\\n• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/OCI)\\\\r\\\\n• Automation tools (Ansible, Python, Shell scripting)\\\\r\\\\n• Experience in SAP-integrated database environments\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nExperience & Qualification\\\\r\\\\n• 12+ years of database administration experience\\\\r\\\\n• Minimum 3–5 years in Lead/Architect role\\\\r\\\\n• Experience in managing global/multi-geo environments \\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nKey Competencies\\\
