Job Summary
Job Title: Storage Administrator – L2 Experience: 3–6 years Role Summary A Storage L2 Engineer is responsible for the administration, monitoring, and support of enterprise storage systems to ensure high availability, performance, and data integrity. The role involves handling incidents, problems, and change management activities, providing second-level (L2) support for storage-related issues, and collaborating with L3 engineers, vendors, and cross-functional teams to maintain stable and scalable storage infrastructure. Key Responsibilities • Storage platforms mainly consist of NetApp, Dell / EMC and HPE products. • Initialize, manage, and assign disk storage volumes as required. • Install and support sufficient data storage and processing capacity. • Implement performance and configuration tuning of the Storage infrastructure. • Provide appropriate security measures for the Storage infrastructure. • Manage all aspects and elements of Storage, including Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attach Storage (NAS) • Monitor volume space and quotas, including capacity management and resolving issues where disk space reached or crosses space thresholds. • Manage and configure file shares and monitor performance and utilization (e.g- CIFS) • Apply firmware, patches, and other upgrades to storage components (disks, shelves, controllers, NIC) to ensure the estate is always at or better than N -1 • Monitoring and health check of the storage devices • Familiar with native tools for managing storage devices. • Manage and maintain lifecycle Storage functions including BIOS and other system setting configurations, present and manage LUNs, managing system software including Multipath I/O, and maintain proper backup and snapshots. • Contact, coordinate, and work with Third-Party vendors when issues arise. • Perform online storage tuning. • Ensure off-site storage is kept to an absolute minimum in accordance with data retention policy and that offsite media storage levels are revised quarterly. Skills and Experience for Backup and Storage Required • Proven hands-on experience with backup and storage technologies. • Proactive, solution oriented mindset with a strong ability to independently troubleshoot issues and rapidly adopt new technologies. • Solid understanding of backup and storage tools, including implementation and integration across enterprise environments. • Extensive experience managing day to day backup operations, including monitoring, success/failure analysis, and reporting. • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities including media management. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to influence, collaborate, and negotiate with stakeholders. Beneficial / Preferred • Experience working with technologies such as NetApp, HPE 3PAR, NetBackup, and ServiceNow. • NetBackup certification. • NetApp certification • Appliance certification (Flex & Data Domain) • Azure/AWS exposure and certification • Strong ownership mindset and ability to operate in high-pressure situations • Excellent written communication for RCA/change plans/customer updates • Experience working within an Agile software delivery environment.
