Who are we looking for?

Please note, this is an interim position of 12 months to cover the absence of a colleague.

Who are we?

GenomeScan is a service provider for innovative DNA and RNA analyses. We provide fast, affordable, and high-quality patient diagnostics. Our diagnostic services play a crucial role in identifying the causes of diseases and providing support for individual treatment plans. We also undertake projects for research groups and pharmaceutical and biotech clients.

We take on a diverse range of challenging projects that are analysed using advanced Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques, including Whole Genome, Exome, and Gene-panel Sequencing, RNA- and Methyl sequencing, and various bioinformatics pipelines. Our laboratory is equipped with the latest Illumina, PacBio, Ion Torrent, and Nanopore sequencers, as well as robotic systems for automated sample processing. GenomeScan complies with international quality standards and is ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 15189 accredited.

What will you do?

As an interim Team leader Diagnostics, you will be part of our Laboratory department and focus on coordinating and managing the day-to-day organization and business matters of the Diagnostics Clinical Genetics unit. You will:

· Be responsible for the execution of our diagnostic services, whilst adhering to relevant procedures and health and safety guidelines, all according to the highest industry standards and quality of services.

· Provide leadership and mentorship to your team, fostering a culture of growth, expertise and high performance.

· Guide and instruct your team members with the planning and preparation of lab work, writing (data) reports, analyses, SOPs and other related documents.

· Ensure efficient and cost-effective operations of the Diagnostics Clinical Genetics unit.

· Maintain contact with customers and strive for maximum customer satisfaction.

· Serve as the primary contact for collaboration between the different Laboratory teams.

Job requirements

What do we ask for?

· Minimum bachelor’s or master’s degree in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology or similar.

· 2-3 years’ experience as a line manager.

· Relevant experience in (modern) molecular genetic services.

· Provable experience in Project Management.

· Inspiring leadership abilities: facilitating growth, ensuring a healthy culture in the team and that everyone can be themselves.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Excellent knowledge of Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing.

· Willing and able to work on-site at least 4 days per week.

What do we offer you?

· A monthly salary between 4.000 and 6.000 euro (based on a full-time position of 40 hours per week), depending on your knowledge and experience.

· An end-of-year 13th month payment.

· A total of 200 holiday hours (based on full-time employment for a full year) with the possibility of buying/selling leave hours.

· A travel allowance or NS Business Card for your commute from and to Leiden.

· A company laptop and telephone.
