Would you like to work in the public sector to help engage the international community?

As a Communications Intern, you will actively contribute to the implementation of the Centre’s communications strategy. From drafting and development of diverse content, to organising events together with your colleagues as well as external partners, you will help in the communication of relevant information to the international community in The Hague region. You will also provide support in optimising registration and our information services for new international students.

Your day-to-day tasks include:

  • Identifying and creating content (both written and design) for social media;
  • Assisting in the preparation of events (also online);
  • Assisting during internal and external events (preparing materials, registration of attendees, answering questions etc.);
  • Contribute to daily content creation and maintenance of The Hague International Centre’s website;
  • Content creation for our monthly newsletter and news articles for our website;
  • Contribute and expand the photo library for THIC Communications;
  • Design various communication outputs such as event invitations, presentations, flyers, social media posts and partner cards;
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly marcom reports;
  • Day-to-day support for other ad-hoc communications tasks.

Duration: 5-7 months, start date between July- September 2026.

Remuneration: HBO-students and WO-students : €652 (gross) per month (based on 36-hours a week).

  • You have a creative mindset and interested in the field of communications, marketing, PR and events;
  • You are both a thinker and a doer, a result-orientated proactive self-starter with excellent communication skills and eye for detail;
  • You are eager to learn, open to feedback and always looking for opportunities to improve;
  • You are outgoing and comfortable interacting with attendees during our events;
  • You have knowledge and experience in graphic design and are familiar with software such as Adobe Indesign and Canva;
  • Fluent in English (C2 to native level) and Dutch (A2/B1 level). Knowledge of the Dutch culture and habits is highly appreciated;
  • Officially enrolled in University/College.

In collaboration with the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) and our partner ACCESS, we facilitate essential government formalities including municipal registration, citizen service number (BSN) issuance, and the collection of residence and work permits. These services are available to highly skilled migrants, diplomats, scientific researchers, international students, graduates, start-ups, and their family members.

Beyond formalities, The Hague International Centre provides practical information and guidance on housing, healthcare, education, employment, and local life. Through helpdesks, welcome guides, online resources, and year-round events and webinars, the Centre ensures internationals feel informed and connected. Whether you're moving for work, study, or family, The Hague International Centre is here to help internationals feel at home.
