Job Description

For our corporate sustainability department, we are looking for an ESG Reporting specialist. The corporate sustainability team consists of 5 people, each with different focus areas. The corporate sustainability team, amongst others, advises the board on ESG policies and ESG performance management based on priorities determined during the (double) materiality assessment. All team members have frequent interactions with internal and external stakeholders as we aim for full integration of ESG management in regular business processes.

As the ESG reporting specialist you will report to and support the Sustainability Manager in the ESG planning and control cycle, as well as preparation of the annual report in accordance with CSRD/ESRS. As such, you will play a key role in Fugro’s ability to respond pragmatically and fit-for-purpose to the continuously growing interest in and demand for transparency regarding ESG policies, ambitions, and performance.

There is a lot of potential for growth in this job, as the importance of ESG reporting is increasing in response to societal expectations and related legislation such as the EU CSRD.

Your role

  • You monitor, analyse and understand the impact of current and developing ESG reporting requirements, including relevant gap-analyses and tangible reporting deliverables.

  • You develop relevant implementation plans in line with the required and selected ESG reporting standards and in close cooperation with key stakeholders.

  • You assist in the development and maintenance of auditable ESG data collection and control framework, in close cooperation with the source departments such as HR, HSSE, Legal/Compliance, Fleet Services, and Group (Finance) Control & Reporting.

  • You assist in the ESG planning & control process. This includes: assisting in the development of new meaningful ESG metrics and targets, preparing internal communication and reporting instructions, supporting auditable ESG data collection, reporting and consolidation and liaise where needed with Fugro’s regions and subsidiaries and joint ventures (57 countries), including data quality controls, data analysis and consolidation; write-up of accompanying explanations.

  • You prepare specific ESG disclosures for the annual report;

  • You prepare other ESG reporting such as UN Global Compact and CDP.

Your track record

  • You have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a team.

  • You work with a high level of accuracy and have good data analytical skills.

  • You have a relevant master’s degree, for example in accountancy, controlling or sustainability corporate governance and at least 5 years’ experience related to corporate sustainability reporting, for example in a Dutch (listed) company or in accountancy, sustainability auditing and/or consulting.

  • You bring working knowledge of sustainability reporting standards such as the European Sustainability Reporting Standards, EU Taxonomy and IFRS – ISSB, as well as related guidelines from TCFD, TNFD and the GHG Protocol.

  • You have knowledge of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights, the ILO standards, UN Global Compact, the SDGs, and SBTi.

  • You have experience, or at least affinity, with financial administration and planning & control processes (a close collaboration with Group Control is a key element of this job).

  • You have the ability to draft high quality and accurate external ESG reporting with both qualitative narratives and quantitative information.

  • Fluent English writing and speaking skills.
