Your Internship

As an intern, you will:

  • Help manage and update FMO’s internal communication channels, including the intranet, Viva Engage, and narrowcasting.
  • Maintain communication templates, content libraries, and shared resources.
  • Manage the team mailbox and route requests to the appropriate colleagues.
  • Review communications for quality, consistency, and compliance with FMO’s style guidelines.
  • Support the preparation of materials for All Staff meetings and provide event or studio support.
  • Assist with communication initiatives, including FMO’s Values in Action programme.
  • Maintain photo libraries and support GDPR compliance.
  • Monitor intranet performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Explore AI and Copilot applications to improve communication processes and content creation.
  • Support the filming and editing of internal video content.

Our Offer

This internship is intended for HBO or Research University bachelor’s students in the final stage of their studies and for master’s students. The internship must be part of an accredited study programme (ECTS-eligible). The internship allowance is EUR 750 net per month (based on 40 hours per week). You are available for at least 4 months, 4-5 days per week.

Your Team

The Corporate Stakeholder Engagement department promotes and protects FMO’s brand and reputation while strengthening engagement with key stakeholders. We build trust and brand resilience by sharing FMO’s story, values, and impact, inspiring partners to contribute to inclusive and sustainable prosperity. The department consists of two teams: Stakeholder Engagement and Communication & Creation, with this internship based in the Communication & Creation team.

The Communication & Creation team manages FMO’s internal communication channels and helps colleagues stay informed about the organization’s strategy and priorities. We develop compelling content, optimize communication channels, support internal campaigns, and collaborate with intranet editors across FMO.

The team also manages FMO’s in-house studio, supports the production of videos, podcasts, internal events, and leadership offsites, and continuously improves communication channels based on analytics and user insights.

Your Background

  • Third- or fourth-year bachelor’s student or master’s student (HBO or Research University), preferably in Communications, Journalism, International Studies, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills (native or near-native level).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools and basic video editing software.

  • Curious, eager to learn, and open to asking questions and learning from feedback.
  • Strong attention to detail and an eye for content, design, video, and visual communication.
  • Creative and digitally savvy, with an interest in social media trends and emerging communication formats.
  • Interest in AI and Copilot, with a willingness to experiment with new technologies and tools.
  • Comfortable using data and analytics to evaluate performance and improve communication effectiveness.
  • Affinity with FMO’s mission, values, and commitment to sustainable development.
