Your role

The Associate will conduct portfolio management activities, including analysis and reporting of client performance and the management of client related tasks such as disbursements, amendments and waivers. The Associate will also be involved in the execution of new transactions. He or she will report to the Manager LAC / Forestry. We are looking for a professional that combines corporate banking credit analysis experience with a passion for impact investments in the agribusiness sector. The Associate is proactive, curious, customer focused and delivers high quality output.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring
    -Preparation of credit reviews including market and financial analysis
    -Build and maintain relationships with relevant people in the investee company. Support clients by responding to requests for information.
    -Drafting of disbursement memo’s and change requests. Client monitoring visits when needed.
  • Provide support in originating and structuring new deals:
    -Preparation of investment proposals undertaking analysis and discussions with internal staff & clients as appropriate.
    -Market research relevant for the Agri sector.
    -Administrative tasks with regards to file completion (compliance and reporting) Planning and execution of due diligence visits.
    -Excel financial modelling to prepare cash flow projections. Client visits when requested.
    -Analysis of financial data including ratios, budgets etc.
    -Legal contracting.
  • Provides input to the team business plan. Participates in internal project teams (including outside the LAC / Forestry team) where needed.

Your team

The Agribusiness, Food & Water department (AFW) is looking for an Associate in the LAC / Forestry team. This diverse team (8 nationalities) focuses on origination, execution, and management of debt investments in the agribusiness sector in Latin America and on Forestry debt investments globally. AFW works with companies along the value chain including primary producers, processors, traders, and logistical services providers. The main objective is to invest in private sector companies in the agribusiness value chain to produce and distribute food, work with (smallholder) suppliers and stimulate environmentally friendly technologies and practices.

The team comprises of 13 investment professionals (including this vacancy). The team is responsible for a portfolio of around 25 clients and c. EUR 600 million exposure and supported by a team of environmental, social, insurance, legal and compliance specialists.


Your background

  • Master's degree – preferably in finance or business administration.
  • Minimum of 3 years (Senior: 5 years) of relevant work experience in financial services. Knowledge / experience in credit analysis of debt transactions in Latin America.
  • Knowledge of and affinity with the agribusiness sector including for ESG topics

Skills

  • Ability to analyze and report on financial and economic data, markets and how this drives the credit quality of the client.
  • Displays strong financial and ESG risk awareness, while thinking creatively with an entrepreneurial focus and is service/client oriented.
  • Capacity to concisely report – in English – on the performance of the client in terms of credit risk, impact as well as ESG related topics.

Competences

  • Good knowledge of financial applications of Excel, including Financial Modelling Strong presentation and negotiating skills.
  • Strong skills in planning, administration, organizing and prioritizing.
  • Strong team player.
