Position
About the role
The Finance & Grants Officer will be a key member of the Finance & Grants Team and will have responsibilities within the Finance team related to the different stages of grant and consultant contracting, including pre-contract preparation, contract management, financial control and funder reporting, as well as other different ad hoc tasks in the finance & grants team when necessary. The Finance & Grants Officer will report to the Finance & Grants Manager.
Key responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of existing Programmes, ensuring adherence to funding commitments, restrictions, and compliance requirements. Responsible for the financial review of grant and DPE requests: reviewing budget proposals, payment schedules and other financial requisites;
Responsible for generating the grant agreements, sending them to grantees and following up on returned contracts and amendments;
Review grantee financial reports;
Handling payments preparation to grantees;
Regular checks in the grant management system for outstanding payments, overdue reports, returned grant agreements, approval limits, payment confirmation letters;
Handling requests from staff related to financial grant procedures and grant management system;
Participating in audit preparation and implementation of audit recommendations linked to grant management;
Perform other tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Ensure compliance with all financial guidelines and requirements set by donors.
Prepare and submit quarterly and/or annual financial reports to donors, collaborating closely with relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
Experience and competencies
You have 2-4 years’ experience in a financial department, preferably in an international non-profit organization or private foundation;
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or another relevant area.
Strong attention to detail with a proven track record as a completer/finisher.
Proactive and enthusiastic team player with the ability to work independently and maintain discretion.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
Proficiency in working with numbers and comfortable with financial analysis.
Computer literate with proficiency in the MS Office suite.
Experience with IT systems, grant management systems, and financial management information systems.
Interest in climate and environmental issues (experience in a similar organization is a plus but not required).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
